Rock Band Land is a San Francisco (Mission District) music program founded by musician Brian Gorman, offering a two-week summer camp for kids ages 6-14 (with one-week partial-session option). Campers form bands, help write an original song and companion story, record vocals, learn an instrument, and make album artwork, mixed with art, comedy, writing, and end-of-session rock shows. It emphasizes real instruments, original songs, and collaboration.

Powered by GoogleGot two kids in RBL, 10 and 13. I'm grateful to the RBL crew for making space for music in San Francisco. My two kids have been learning bass, drums, vocals and production. RBL is a community whey they get to know kids from other places. The staff are accommodating, prompt, attentive and doing great work.
Wow this Bo guy is really cool, give him a raise
I would like to give Brian and Rock Band Land 11 stars (thank you, Spinal Tap!) but Yelp will only let me give five. My two children have now spent weeks at Rock Band Land, and without fail, when I pick them up, they don't want to leave and they are bubbling over with how much fun they had, how much they learned, and how funny Brian is! I have been teaching since 1997, and to me, Brian is a natural teacher. He GETS kids, even the spiky ones. (Especially the spiky ones?) He is also aware of what it is like to be a working parent in this city, and so diligently communicates every aspect of what is needed/not needed for a kiddo to have a great time at RBL, I feel like he's doing the parenting for me! Plus his emails are epic - he is a wordsmith, indeed! My older child is now not just in camps - she's in Rock Out once a week, and I am seeing such a lovely growth in her poise and confidence! I'm pretty sure that by now, attendance at a camp or class at RBL is required if you live in San Francisco or surrounding environs, so SIGN UP and prepare to be amazed. Thank you, Brian and the whole RBL team!
