Powered by GoogleWe enrolled our toddler in swim lessons at the YMCA Quakertown branch, and the experience has been extremely frustrating due to poor communication and lack of organization. We drive from Allentown for these classes, so clear and accurate information is important. When registering, the online schedule showed a morning summer class, and the front desk was able to sign us up for it. However, when we arrived, we were told that no summer morning class actually existed. As a result, we wasted our time driving there, and my daughter is now behind in her lessons because of the misinformation. What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of accountability. When I tried to discuss the issue with the front desk, I was simply told that it was the aquatics department’s responsibility. As a customer, I shouldn’t have to navigate internal department issues after being given incorrect information by YMCA staff. To make matters worse, the only summer classes available for my daughter’s age group are at 6:30 PM. For toddlers, that’s an unreasonable time slot, as it is very close to bedtime for many families. I understand that scheduling challenges happen, but better communication, coordination between departments, and more family-friendly class options are needed. We chose the YMCA because of its reputation for serving families, but unfortunately our experience has been disappointing.
I recently visited the YMCA to purchase a pool family membership and initially had a very positive interaction with Richard. He was friendly, helpful, and took the time to address a pricing discrepancy after I explained that I had called ahead and been quoted a different rate than what was showing at checkout. To clarify the situation, Richard sought assistance from Maria. Unfortunately, my experience changed significantly at that point. Maria came out with an aggressive demeanor and immediately stated, "The price is what it is." When I politely asked whether any accommodation could be made since I had been given different information over the phone, she abruptly responded, "Absolutely not." My issue is not with the membership pricing itself. I understand that pricing policies exist and may not always be flexible. My concern is with the level of customer service I received. Maria's attitude was unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. The way she spoke to me made me feel unwelcome and undervalued as a prospective member. Afterward, I expressed my disappointment to Richard regarding the interaction. He was courteous, empathetic, and apologized for the experience. However, Maria overheard the conversation and then came around the counter to place the pricing sheet directly in front of me a second time. This felt unnecessary and confrontational, especially considering I had already completed the transaction and paid for the membership. Richard demonstrated excellent customer service throughout the entire interaction and should be recognized for his professionalism and willingness to help. Unfortunately, Maria's behavior overshadowed what should have been a positive experience. If she holds a management position, I believe her approach to customer interactions should be reevaluated, as leadership should set an example of professionalism, respect, and courtesy. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so future members do not have a similar experience.
Love the staff. Always friendly and helpful. The facility is really clean, the pool is amazing and the saunas are a bonus. I appreciate that they are renovating with our affecting our ability to workout. The walking path was a nice surprise. Amazing facility for gymnastics.
Visiting family for the holidays and thought it’d try a different gym than usual. Great experience! Desi at the front desk was an absolute joy to talk to, you can tell she really cares about everyone coming in. What I enjoyed most though was the weight room. I did not expect it to be so up to date. They had all the equipment you could need and at least 6-8 different racks for free weights. Will definitely be coming here again when I visit home.
My 5 and 3 year old just finished the spring session of swim class at the ymca in Quakertown PA. The aquatics director, Ms. Becky, is amazing. All the swim instructions at this location are just fabulous, patience and skilled. There are vending machines, tea and coffee machines as well, that’s an added perk for parents, as we all know, we are on the go.. I definitely recommend this location.
