ProDance Academy is a dance studio in Northfield teaching ballet/contemporary, jazz/musical theater, hip hop and tap, with classes for ages 2-6 that pair movement and music with introductory ballet and tap. Its summer camp is an advanced, invitation-only program rather than open enrollment. Regular classes run weekday afternoons after 4pm at 1935 New Road, and dancers perform in a holiday show and an end-of-year recital.

Very disappointing experience after nearly 2 years here. My 4-year-old was told to wait to use the bathroom during class and ended up wetting herself—more than once. At that age, kids can’t always wait. When my husband raised this concern, staff initially denied it, then later admitted to a “one child at a time” bathroom policy, which we were never informed about. Instead of apologizing, the situation escalated unnecessarily, and he was even threatened with police involvement. Shortly after, they canceled our membership. This showed a lack of professionalism and understanding of young children’s basic needs. We will be going elsewhere.

I started my daughter here because of all the wonderful things I heard about this place. I started her mid year and was informed if she wanted to be in the recital I would have to give a heads up but still had a couple weeks. When the deadline approached I opted in and paid the $150 for the costumes. Of corse they waited to tell me till after I purchased the costumes that they only had size larger and I would have to get them altered myself. When covid hit they went all virtual but I still had my daughter attending the virtual classes. I was enrolled in auto-pay with them however I have a horrible horrible habit of misplacing my debit card. The second I can’t find it I cancel it and order a new one. They would call me like I was on the run every single day till I called back with the new card information. This happened about 3 times in a year span. So finally we get to the day of recital with my daughter and her pinned up 150 dollar dresses. We are told to wait in the back and the girls will record the recital in the studio. The recital will take 5 weeks to edit so I was very eager to see her performance. When the tapes came out on both dance my daughter was placed in a spot on two separate dances where she was completely blocked from camera view. At this point I’m extremely disappointed after all that time waiting. As I’m watching the video they called twice in a row to charge my card again so I brought this concern to their attention. They said I would have to contact the Facebook page. The next day I decided I was going to drop my daughter out and join a different studio. Their Friday night only availability was not working with our schedule. I got no response for them what so ever. No thank you for your time or business. Unlike the numerous call and texts about putting a new card on file. Unbelievable. This place has left the worst taste in my mouth.
