Port of Silverdale Sailing Program

Silverdale, WAAges 8–12

Private

The Silverdale waterfront sailing program is run by the Kitsap Sailing Foundation in collaboration with the Port of Silverdale, and is the same program listed separately under that foundation's name. Week-long junior camps put children ages 8-12 (under about 120 pounds) in Optimist dinghies to learn rigging, wind awareness, steering and sail control, right-of-way rules and capsize recovery, Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 4:30pm; an intermediate week (afternoons, 1:30pm-4:30pm) is open to campers with at least one week of sailing camp. The foundation is a 501(c)(3), and military and sibling discounts plus scholarships are available.
