Playhouse Theatre Academy, operated by Playhouse Theatre Group, which also manages Playhouse on Park, offers semester theater classes for children ages 3 to 13 at Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford. Fall, winter and spring sessions include Drama Sprouts for ages 3 to 4, Little Thespians for ages 5 to 7 and POP Stars for ages 8 to 12, and most classes close with a Share Day. Mini-Mainstage Musicals, a 20-week production class for ages 9 to 13 with a Beginners group for ages 6 to 8, ends with a performance on the Playhouse on Park stage. Need-based scholarships, a sibling discount and a free trial class are offered, and the teacher-to-student ratio is 1:12 to 1:15.

For a small theater, we were thrilled with the presentation (the creative costumes were an especial hit) and the singing voices were impressive. Keep an eye out for parking... It's not *bad* but you do have to find street parking, so add 10min onto your commute so you're not late. Overall, this group had a lot of heart, lot of talent, and I really hope they do well overall. Absolutely would go again.
