I had a lesson with Mel last week and he was hands down the best instructor! My goal for the trip was to ski my first blue run — and after just two warm-up runs on greens, we were already tackling blues. His tips and encouragement made a huge difference. I can’t recommend him highly enough!

This is a review for the snowboard intro lessons. I have been snowboarding for several years and wanted to get lessons for my wife. I was able to easily learn at Heavenly and found lessons invaluable. So with the fresh powder, I wanted to get my wife lessons and Palisades had an all day lesson available. In my opinion, the lessons were not very good and I think Palisades was the priciest lessons of the Tahoe resorts. She was not really taught any of the basics. She mentioned the instructor didn't have a snowboard to demonstrate so she couldn't even figure out how it's actually supposed to look. She was just given demonstrations with hand gestures. After the morning lesson, I checked in with her during the afternoon lesson and apparently she was having issues getting into her Burton bindings all day (I had specifically asked if the instructor would be able to teach her how to use them). She also didn't know how to skate on the board and was unclipping both bindings to get back up the slope.

My kids have taken group lessons at a few different mountains over the years, and this experience was disappointing, especially given the high price point. Check-in for group kids lessons was hectic and left us nervous, with the coaches lacking the usual warm and welcoming tone we’re used to experiencing from mountains like Heavenly and Breckenridge. My eight-year-old son, who is in his fifth year of skiing, was left with a weird note in his report card stating he has, “a peculiar understanding of the sport, will need more practice.” Not very encouraging or positive, leaving my son upset after reading it.

We have a family private class with Ms.Alexie today. She's very friendly, attentive and professional. My son really enjoyed the class with her so much that he would like to fly to Child and ski with her there lol Thanks much for a great class. You really make him want to go for it :) highly appreciated!

I had private lesson with Speedy and loved it! Speedy was a fantastic instructor. He gave me drills to work on, his explanations and demonstrations were easy to follow, and he was a cool guy to spend a day on the slopes with. Speedy was a former ski racer, so it was fun to practice carving and moguls with him. I feel a lot more confident and skilled after our lesson. With ski lessons, you get to use the ski school lane -- which is much faster and allows you to get more runs in. Highly recommend skiing at Palisades (my favorite California resort) and lessons with Speedy (real name is Steve!).
