I want to share my experience so others can make an informed decision about this volleyball club. While there are positives, there are also some significant concerns regarding leadership and team management. The club director, Ginger, is very involved in day-to-day team operations, often to the point of overstepping. On multiple occasions, she has intervened in team matters that are typically handled by coaches to effectively lead their teams or establish trust and consistency with their players. Communication and decision-making can also be challenging. There have been instances where conclusions were made quickly without full information. In some cases, players were questioned about the legitimacy of injuries and asked to provide proof, even for minor injuries that would normally just require rest. I have also witnessed a situation where a player was incorrectly accused of faking an injury due to confusion between athletes. Ginger did not take the time to be sure she was accusing the correct athlete of such an atrocity. Additionally, coaches may receive messages during games questioning lineup decisions or being directed to play certain athletes. This can be disruptive and undermines the coach's role during competition. If you are considering coaching or having your child play for this club, it's important to understand that the director maintains a high level of control over team operations. For some, this structure may work, but for others, it may not align with their expectations of a typical club environment.

OPVC has been a wonderful volleyball home for Madi over the past three years. The coaching staff is very knowledgeable, supportive, and truly committed to developing players both on and off the court. We’ve appreciated the positive team culture and the focus on skill development and growth. OP has a reputation of being a strong club - we show up, play hard, and compete. Recently, a coach from another club said "OP has swagger!" which is awesome and also made me laugh. Overall, it’s been a very positive experience, and we’re grateful for the time, coaching, friendships, and opportunities - Go OP!

My daughter played 11’s at OP and moved for 12’s to another club to get the opportunity to play at the ‘National’ level. She loved the ‘National’ experience but I will say, OPVC is amazing. Great coaches, VERY well run practices and skill development. We will be looking at the opportunity to come back because of how much she grew at her time at OP!

We are just finishing our club season at OPVC, and I have been thoroughly impressed. We moved from out of state this year, and have experienced clubs with different club culture. OP definitely stands out in having a strong culture that prioritizes the girls not just as players, but as people. They foster a positive and encouraging environment which was exactly what my daughter needed to flourish. I highly encourage anyone who is looking for a strong club volleyball experience to consider OPVC!

My two daughters tried out for 12 and 13. My older has been playing for OP few years but my younger is new to OP. OP offered a contract to my older over the summer, they stated she would be on 13-1 or 13-2 and we accepted it. We got an email right before the tryout saying that even if she got placed on the second team, she would have a possibility to move up to the top team. The Tryout result came out, my daughter got put on the second team, and we watched the result every few hours. We noticed no matter how many girls declined to join the top team, OP refused to move up to my daughter or any of her 12-1 teammates from last year. They’d rather move someone from the bottom team who never played for OP than my loyal daughter. We were the winning team last year, why would you separate them??? Just because we didn’t do well at the national? Maybe OP should blame themselves for putting our team in the wrong division. For my younger daughter, she made it to 12-4. However, we notice the Gennett girls have zero talents or skills both made it to the second team just because their dad/uncle is the coach. OP also picked up a bunch of Elevation girls who got dumped by Elevation. Come on OP they got dumped because they aren’t good enough. The two sycamore girls on the top teams aren’t good either, they both have terrible forms and skills. Ironically, the two other girls that got contract offered and declined both got offered back to the top team. I’ve heard both girls had poor sportsmanship and attitudes, but OP just admires them for whatever reason. I walked by those two girls many times and they openly criticized their head coach and the owner, the shorter girl even called them fat clowns. OP needs to get their priorities straight, instead of separating their teams every year, they need to reward the girls that are loyal to them. They should spend time training their loyal players instead of cutting them every year and pick up someone who will only play for them a year then take the experience and leave. I know volleyball is a very competitive sport. If you guys are willing to spend the time to train your loyal players, they could very well be better than any elevation players. I am a former D1 player and head coach for a local high school, so I understand this game very well. Please stop playing favorites and politics on those poor girls who deserve to be on the better team. P.S. we don’t want to take small group with the owner, please stop pressuring us.
