I like this gym. The equipment is modern, the leisure areas are great, and the staff who take care of the children are wonderful. However, today I had an unpleasant experience with one of the lifeguards, named Naka. She told me that my daughter was not allowed in the large pool because it was only for ages 14 and up — even though I was in the pool with her and she was wearing a life jacket. I would have completely understood if this rule were being applied to everyone. But just a few minutes later, I saw children younger than my daughter in the same pool alone and without life jackets, and nothing was said. If this is truly the rule, it should be applied equally to everyone, not just to certain people. What bothered me was not the rule itself, but the inconsistency in how it was enforced.

I’ve been a member here for a year, solely because there are no other good outdoor swimming options in the area. I exclusively use the outdoor pools and the changing rooms, and unfortunately, the experience has been highly disappointing. Right from the start, the sales tour skipped the showers and amenities and I quickly found out why. The floors of outdoor changing room are incredibly dirty (they seem to only vacuum them, never mop), the shower walls are moldy, the curtains are rusty, and the trash cans are constantly filthy. The pool conditions are no better. The indoor pool has an overwhelming chlorine smell, and the water is frequently so cloudy that you can’t see the other end. Meanwhile, the outdoor pools are full of bugs from late spring through summer. Last year during peak season, the bottom of both outdoor pools was littered with trash (including pizza boxes, towels, etc) that sat there for days and was the first thing I saw in my morning swim. If you're looking for a serious evening swim practice in the summer, look elsewhere. The outdoor pools turn into a crowded party scene with loud music and constant noise. At $100 a month (membership plus mandatory bar fees), this place is massively overpriced. Even in New York, you can find a decent pool for around $40 a month. To top it all off, they recently renovated the men's changing rooms while leaving the women's completely untouched. It's pretty clear where their priorities lie :) so, ladies, let’s go swimming somewhere else :)

The gym is nice but like every other gym over crowded… the good classes are offered in the middle of the day. You can forget it if you work 8-5. They are booked up 2 days in advance you have to get waitlisted. They make changes to their guests policies without notifying members by email. You can drive 30 minutes out your way to get there but forget it if your guest that’s already in the system doesn’t have a government ID now. The experience isn’t worth it anymore for people that work everyday and don’t live near by.

I've been a member of Ochsner Fitness center for almost a year and I absolutely love it. First and foremost, it's a clean & beautiful facility with so many amenities. The staff are kind and they have a smoothie bar/PJs coffee where you can get all kinds of beverages, snacks, and meals! There are so many group workout classes available every single day from as early at 5:30am to 7:30pm. You're bound to find a class that works for you! Their app is extremely easy to use and works great. You can easily see what classes are available to book throughout the week (and further) so you can easily plan your workouts. The weight area seems packed with a wide variety of machines and free weights. There is a second floor walking track and all cardio machines are located on the second floor. They have indoor and outdoor swimming pools, saunas, changing rooms, lockers, showers, plenty of restrooms, cycling lab, personal training area, basketball courts, pickleball courts, and so much more! Well worth the price! Highly recommend!

I trained at the Ochsner Fitness Center for 2 days for the Huey P. Long Bridge Run, and from those 2 days I can see why they have so many members! The gym has a huge variety of equipment. The spacing is large and clean. There’s a food and smoothie area that is reasonably priced. Not to mention, there are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools & pickleball courts! There’s even an outside bar. I don’t even know if I should call this place a gym anymore… it’s basically everything you can think of all related to active health in one place! The facility is friendly to all ages, as I’ve seen a variety of different people when I worked out here. The membership prices can honestly be expensive, as a single membership can be over $80 a month. However, I feel like it’s worth the price considering everything that comes with the membership itself. If I didn’t live a bit far from the center, I would definitely be a member here, but I’m glad I got to have the chance to explore everything at Ochsner Fitness Center. If you’re in the area and are looking for a friendly gym/health environment, I’d recommend checking this place out at least once.
