Devastated that GBA gave all of their players over to this place. Wish they would have stuck with OSA. Coach O aka the owner is not equipped to have a league and the kids are suffering as a result. Do better!

This place is a disgrace! They only care about the numbers, not the kids! Paid top dollar for select any my kids learned minimal. Now they want elite money for doing nothing. Wish we had more options. But for now I’ll just drive the 40 minutes to get my kids to a place they’re actually taught something and for half the price! Steer clear of this money hungry family.

NLA Omaha does not have your child’s best interest at heart and I would look every which way before considering supporting them. On august 8th my daughter had a tryout with the HEAD of the organization, coach o who made it clear to us AND HER she made the cut. No news about another tryout as one of their scripted excuses later on came about. If a coach sees a weakness in a child they need to do their JOB that they committed to when they accepted that player onto their program and team and COACH them. Instead their 4th grade girls coach Kelly Zach decided to compliment our daughter to our face let us know what to work on and make her feel welcomed to then the next day kick her off without a word to her parents. Kristen and Coach O signed off and agreed to this without even having a discussion with their own Coach as to why. They later scrambled and blamed “pace of play” then “she’s not at gold level” but could not specify in what way or skills. They should have never committed to our 9/10 yr old child if they were going to do this. We had to find out through a refund for her uniform on our bank account meanwhile they had her registration info on our system and didn’t think to notify any of her parents before it. Our child is by no means an elite basketball player but she CERTAINLY did not stick out or look out of place compared to her teammates. Her style of play seemed to fit in well with her team. They don’t want to “teach your kids” fundamentals here or help them grow as an athlete, they don’t want to put in the work to teach your children. They would rather have talented players come in to help them “look” successful. This isn’t a case of our child didn’t make the team. This is a case of our child MADE THE TEAM after completing a one on one try out with HEAD of the organization, Coach O. Our child was told personally by Coach Oliver she made the team. Then suddenly booted out after the first attempt of getting all the girls on team for the first time to play. Where our child felt so welcome and had started to bond and get excited to become close to her teammates who were so supportive of her playing with them. It is incredibly difficult for us as parents to now have to explain to our 10 yr old right after her birthday that her “coach” no longer wants her on the team. We have no clue how to even go about this and find her a new spot on a different team in her favorite sport this late. We have briefly and gently discussed this topic with her and to say this has her upset is an understatement. God has us covered and we are truly lucky to have this happen early on vs having her with a coach who doesn’t pour into her and strive to help her grow. She will strive, she will grow, and she will thrive in everything she sets her mind to. But wow, what a completely shady way to go about their business. As business owners ourselves and as a coach (my husband) with a competitive mindset we completely understand competition- we aren’t equal play time type parents. We tell our kids they need to WORK to EARN what they have. But to guarantee her a spot then take it back? Wanting your team to be the best but incapable of COACHING and putting in the work to be the best? As the 7th or 8th girl on her team it would have been nothing for a halfway decent coach to continue to develop her skills even if she was no starter. This was completely unacceptable. I would also like to STRESS to you that this could have cost another child their entire season. Most teams have ordered uniforms and etc. While her loved ones will make sure YOU guys don’t ruin her passion and love of her sport you could have KILLED another child’s confidence, their drive, and their passion. An “academy” should teach their youth. To say she makes the cut to her dream team then take it away a month later because you’re not a good enough coach to COACH a child WHO MADE YOUR TEAM?! ZERO respect for you, Coach Kelly Zach, Kristen and Don Oliver, and the NLA Omaha, Inc. organization as a whole.
