New Heights Youth is a Brooklyn nonprofit that uses basketball to run academic and athletic programming for city youth, including a four-week Summer Academy at its Bedford Avenue site. Campers alternate classroom sessions in STEM/coding and ELA with a health-and-wellness elective, guest speakers, and two afternoon blocks of basketball skills work, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The Summer Academy is open to rising 5th-8th grade New Heights members rather than to the general public, and the organization's programs primarily serve under-resourced NYC communities.
