I genuinely hate having to put a bad review on any place. I’ve actually pondered about this since the summer when I sent my kids to camp here. I grew up going to church camp every summer I loved it…I have some of the best memories with the best counselors that radically helped shape my Christian walk. I had never sent my children to a camp before so it was very overwhelming for me they are teenagers so I finally did it based off of reviews from other people chose this camp. I think this camp could be absolutely remarkable if they change the BIGGEST issue they have there major downfall of having teenagers be the main camp counselors specifically teenagers that have no relationship with Jesus at all… They point-blank told my kids that they had never even opened a Bible before they came to the camp. Continually cussed while they were there also vaped with the campers as well as inappropriately hit on the girl campers. There was also not genuine medical care for a fellow camper my kids hung out during there stay. They ignored her pleas to call her mom saying walk it off and forcing her to participate when she was in pain i’m not saying the nurses are not good it was the camp counselor is not allowing her to go to be seen and or to call her mother after 24 hours of having the same amount of pain if not worse. I was told that the Director Hannah herself is wonderful and very spiritually mature. Apparently there’s a lot that goes on that is overlooked maybe they couldn’t find enough counselors this year so they had to settle for whatever they could get. But my reasoning was sending them there so they could experience Jesus in a way that you don’t get in the world they did not get that there at all if anything the opposite happened. Camp Monroe you have so much potential but I really think you might want to change your policy of having teenagers as the counselors.

Monroe Camp and Retreat Center is a place I have enjoyed visiting since 1981. It is peaceful and quiet and the lake is absolutely beautiful and enjoyable for a canoe ride. I have gone there with groups and as an individual and I have always been rewarded by the experience. Now my grandkids go there and they report it is "awesome."

Camp Monroe has been huge for my family and me. My mom and dad met there. I grew up camping there. My sister and I worked there. I have seen the camp improve its facilities and activities and programing vastly over the years. It is a gem. Can't wait to send my kids.

Camp Monroe has always been a special place! My mother went to Camp Monroe as a child, and my sister and I followed in her footsteps. In fact, the camp made such a positive impact on my life, I worked there every summer from age 16-23. What amazing memories. Now with the property becoming such a popular wedding/event venue, and the facilities updated and impeccably maintained, Monroe just keeps getting better. Highly recommended!

My kids have gone to Camp Monroe for 3 years now. For the last 2 years they have come back happy and excited about all the activities they were able to do. The counselors have been great with them. The camp puts a lot of training into the counselors to ensure the safety and well being of the campers. They are looking forward to another year with Camp Monroe.
