I've had two situations where I made booking mistakes due to a language barrier – I recently moved to the US and misunderstood some things. Both times, the team at MIDC handled it with so much patience and kindness. Once I accidentally booked drop-in classes instead of using my 10-class pack, and they adjusted the charges without hesitation. The second time there was confusion around my membership, and they resolved it quickly and fairly. It's rare to find a studio that treats their members with this level of care and understanding. Our daughter joined MIDC in 2020 as a 3rd grader. After one year on the recreational team, she quickly realized this was the sport for her and committed to the competition team. It is not only about dancing but also the MIDC community. Her experience in the program has benefited both her physical and social-emotional development. She has gained confidence through performing on stage and meaningful friendships fostered through hard work and collaboration with her peers. Currently, she is developing mentoring and leadership skills through the Work Exchange program. Marlaina is a firm but supportive director and my daughter deeply respects her as a coach; she skillfully works with all levels! As parents, we have enjoyed the personal connections made with other families in the community and look forward to sharing the joy of witnessing our dancers’ progress on stage. As someone who danced from childhood into my adult years I wanted to be very selective about a studio and instructors for my daughter. Mirror Image has everything i wanted and none of the icky parts of the dance world that I experienced. The instructors are talented, good role models, caring and inclusive. Classes are challenging, fun and safe. My daughter has progressed in skill, explored several styles of dance and made friends here. The performance opportunities are wonderful (and not just for competitive dancers) and give dancers the experience of being part of a real tech week and well-produced, big-stage show. I notice a general body-positive culture and a place that welcomes dancers of all abilities. I feel really good about sending my daughter here.

This is my fifth year dancing with Mirror Image dance company and there are absolutely no words that could describe how supportive and amazing this studio is. I started off with absolutely no dance experience and with Marlaina’s support i was able to not only build my confidence, but skill and she helps us all to achieve any goal!
