California State Summer School for the Arts · Private

California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) is a rigorous, pre-professional, month-long residential program for talented high-school-age artists who have completed grades 8-12. Created by the state Legislature and running since 1987, it offers training in animation, creative writing, dance, film and video, music, theatre and visual arts, with competitive admission; graduates are named California Arts Scholars. Beginning July 2026 the program is hosted at Cal Poly Pomona (previously at CalArts).

This is the HQ Office for CSSSA. The actual academic classes are held at CalArts in Valencia, California.

This isn’t CSSSA. CSSSA has always been held at Calarts and I’m not sure why this shows up on google instead. It’s really confusing so if you want to see where CSSSA actually is, it’s on Calarts Campus in LA.
