Minnesota Youth Symphonies runs Summer Extravaganza, a week-long orchestral day camp at Macalester College in St. Paul for musicians entering grades 2 through high school graduation. Days include full rehearsals, sectionals, music history, and guest artists, ending in a Friday concert. A no-audition String Orchestra serves advanced-beginner and intermediate players (grades 2-9, Suzuki Books 1-5).

Minnesota Youth Symphony has become such an important part of our lives and has created a lifelong impact. My son looks forward all week to his MYS orchestra practice and is so proud to be a part of the beautiful concerts. His conductor is amazing to inspire the kids and get them to a new level while also making it so much fun. Everyone who works there is amazing; MYS feels like family.
A great program. Good conductors, good music theory teachers, and the kids get to know each other. We recommend MYS.
Auditioning and enrolling in any MYS program is extremely worthwhile because of the musicianship MYS expects and cultivates. Being a smaller organization, students are able to form close bonds with their conductors, MYS staff, and families across the four orchestras. Over two seasons (including this very challenging Covid year), we have witnessed time and time again how dedicated this organization is to the kids. They put safety first while continuing to provide top-notch musical instruction. My child has participated in auditions, rehearsals, concerts, and camps. During all these events, I've always felt reassured and comfortable that my child is in wonderful hands with caring people who are developing confident, talented, and incredibly disciplined musicians.
Glad to be part of it! My kids enjoy it a lot. Aaron is super nice!!!
