Mel Ott Baseball & Softball is an all-volunteer youth league chartered by Little League International, established in 1958 and based at 377 Meyer Road in Amherst, behind Sweet Home Middle School. It offers competitive house ball for ages 4-18 across Tee-ball, baseball and girls softball divisions, plus all-star tournaments, its own Extravaganza tournaments and Panthers travel teams. The baseball season runs from late April to mid-July and softball from May through July. This is a seasonal youth league, not a summer camp.

Was there for an entire weekend. Women’s bathroom had no running water in the only sink. They did provide soap. I suggested they provide hand sanitizer but it never appeared.

Human feces on the floor of the men’s room for 7months (fall ball was run excellent by the coach but the bathrooms were not acceptable, figured it was just a busy day… 7 months later they still haven’t been cleaned)!!! Flooded bathroom floors, clogged toilets and feces/urine on floor. Pictures below are from two separate occasions a week apart and you can clearly see there’s never been a bathroom attendant. They advertise pristine fields, new bathrooms and new equipment. Last week the kids were hitting off of a traffic cone because there was no tee to be found for those who couldn’t hit from the machine, the traffic cone worked but is a reflection of how the league is run! More rainouts than games played with no rescheduling of games yet, 3 games played and not a single practice, thirty minute delay the first week while waiting for the org to get the field ready for play, individually purchased helmets and bats needing to be shared because none were supplied by Mel Ott, no coach lined up prior to first week (luckily parents and grandparents have saved the season for the kids) thank you to the volunteers! The organization should be ashamed and shut down by the DOH. Pictures separated by the grass field conditions were taken a week apart…

The place is fine, its just that Mel Ott sounds a little like Mel-on, should’ve named this diamond Melon Little League instead. Disappointed in that respect. I would love to go to baseball diamonds under the title of Melon Little League, who wouldn't? Missed opportunity.

My son played last year for this league and enjoyed it, however this year he didn't like it at all about 6-7 games in he told me not to bring him back he was getting picked on by kids and he didn't like it. A meeting was set because of an issue my son had with another player on the other players mother request to have them meet with me. After explaining to them my son no longer wanted to play because he didnt enjoy it and asking for some of the money to be refunded seeing as LOTS of games were being canceled and my son didn't want to play due to issues with the team they told me I couldn't even have less then half of a refund or any of my money back at all seeing as they only had a "HANDFUL" of games left, it is now over a month and a half and I'm still getting notifications to my email of practices and games so clearly this issue occurred on may 31 it is well over a "HANDFUL".. There's no one I can contact. A complete waste of $200.. Then the guy at the meeting also told me I couldn't have my money back because my son has his uniform already, A UNIFORM THAT I PAID FOR, I BOUGHT THEY DIDN'T EVEN SUPPLY.. So not sure what he meant by that but I'm extremely disappointed with this league this year... Better to go elsewhere...

I am highly disappointed in the way this organization handles canceling games. It does not make sense to me why my family was not given the proper notice of cancelation. Supposedly an email was sent yesterday HOWEVER a text was sent this morning stating the game was still on. Come to find out after driving 20 minutes a coach from a different team inform my family the game was canceled. This coach (different team) was well aware that this game would be canceled due to not having enough players. Does that make sense to you why no one was notified properly? None the less this is NOT the first time. This is not our first year dealing with this organization. It saddens me to see what has happened with this little league. There is now only ONE game scheduled for the rest of the season and no games rescheduled... Shame on you! The amount of money and time put into this does not equal out to the amount of games the kids ACTUALLY play. Food for thought!
