Girl Scouts - Citrus

Camp Mah-Kah-Wee is the Girl Scouts of Citrus Council's camp property in Chuluota, running week-long overnight sessions for girls in grades 2-12 plus a pilot day camp for grades 2-5, new for 2026, that runs alongside the overnight program so both groups share activities. Themed weeks cover nature exploration, cooking, science and robotics, spa and crafts, water activities and space, and each camper completes one badge matched to the grade she enters in the fall. Campers swim in the pool and canoe or corcl on the lake after a waterfront safety orientation and swim test, and each session includes a field trip. The council states supervision ratios of 2 adults per 12 campers in grades 2-3 rising to 2 adults per 24 in grades 9-12, qualified medical staff on site 24 hours a day for overnight camps, and that the property is accredited by the American Camp Association.

This camp is always excellent, there's a lot to do, such as: going out to the lake, doing climbing on the high corse, getting bused to ride horses, arts and crafts, and field games like "Blue Aardvarc". The food is good and sometimes they have themed meals like "Waffle Wednesday". The staff are always trying to do their best and are good at their jobs. Of course, the weather gets in the way a lot because of how florida is, and in cases like that, they have activities like cards, bored games, and crafts.

Camp Mah-Kah-Wee is a wonderful destination for Girls and Adults alike! The range of activities offered in a team building environment span multiple age ranges and challenge levels. Central Floridans are lucky to have such a camp in our own backyard!

As a parent that has been sending their child to camp for several years with another Girl Scout Council, I will say that Girl Scouts of Citrus has set the bar for what I now expect in a Girl Scout camp. While the facilities are on par with what I would expect from a non profit, they are in excellent condition and they are getting the most out of them. I will also mention that checkin and check out went so well I was actually upset at how I have been treated at other Girl Scout camps in the past. Finally at the end of it all when we picked up our daughter she was happy, tired, had new friends, and had earned a badge that we were given at checkout along with everything we had sent her to camp with. My daughter wants to go back and I honestly can't think of a reason to not send her back, this was a great experience.
