Langford Farms used to feel like “home.” That is until this year when they obtained new ownership. Apprehensively, we gave them a chance because we truly love our summers on the farm. There literally is no where else we’d rather be than poolside in “our spot.” Almost immediately, the new ownership became something we’d never known before in all of our years of membership (dating back to childhood). They would dismiss (actually it was almost like laughing and mocking) valid concerns of a significant rate increase citing the newly renovated lobby and fitness area while the tennis courts and swimming pools remain crumbling. From what I understand, there is no more money to repair the tennis courts and swimming pools (keep in mind that it’s a TENNIS and SWIMMING club) unless they raise rates even more meaning some members had a significant rate increase yet got nothing out of it. Yes, it is true that the newly renovated lobby and fitness area looks nice. However, no one asked for the bougie upgrades (at least not in lieu of much needed repairs to things they actually used and joined for).. No one comes to Langford to hang out in the sterile like lobby. The new ownership also has no interest in the long standing history of the club as decades worth of tennis and swimming team photos and trophies were trashed. Those kids EARNED those accolades and DESERVE to have their club display them with pride. And there is more than enough space to display them, but instead, there are chairs you’re not allowed to sit in if you’re wet…..right by a swimming pool. ??? The new ownership is also not receptive or open to any kind of any perceived slight or constructive criticism and will only allow unwavering praise and adoration. They will delete any and all comments from their Facebook page and even go as far as prematurely canceling memberships of those who dare question something or who don’t “tow the line.” All the while not initiating prorated refunds to those members who they’ve canceled for membership they PAID for for the whole season (or year). If you agree to do nothing and say nothing but stroke their ego, you’ll like the place just fine, I guess. Otherwise, if you want to feel like your voice is heard and matters in a membership you PAID your hard earned money for, I’d strongly suggest looking at other options like we are. Their vision of the club’s direction isn’t something we want to be a part of. It feels toxic and hateful. We no longer feel welcome there which truly saddens us.

I have been connected to Langford Farms Club since I was a teenager and have many fond memories there. When the previous owners, Brad and Becky, were in charge, the club felt like family. Over the years, I have primarily been a tennis member, but in April of this year I decided to purchase a full membership under the new ownership because of the amenities and improvements being advertised at that time. These included extended pool hours, a 24-hour gym, renovations throughout the facility, and resurfacing of three tennis courts. I understand that major upgrades take time and resources, and I was patient with that process. However, several of the marketed changes either did not occur or were delayed significantly. For example, the 24-hour gym was not operational until late July, despite being advertised in April. The pool hours were promoted as open until 8 p.m. all summer, but were later changed to close at 6 p.m. in the latter part of the season. The tennis court resurfacing is now stated to be dependent on future investors, meaning it is not guaranteed. In addition, I observed maintenance issues such as the adult pool containing significant debris on more than one occasion. I posted two brief, polite comments on the club’s Facebook page noting the debris and the pool hour change. These comments contained no vulgar or disrespectful language. Shortly after, I found that I had been blocked from the club’s Facebook page without prior notice or any request to communicate through alternative channels. This was concerning, as the page is where members receive updates and important information. I also experienced a serious health concern. On one occasion, my roommate and I both ate lunch and dinner at the poolside grill and became violently ill later that evening. I sent the owner a private message to let him know this was a possibility — not to make a public complaint, but so he could be aware in case there was an issue that needed to be addressed. My concern was dismissed outright, with the owner stating that no one else had complained. In our conversation, he also dismissed other points I raised about the facility, saying my feedback carried less weight because he believed I had not attended the clubhouse often enough. When I arranged a face-to-face meeting to discuss these matters in a calm and professional manner, the owner confirmed that he removes Facebook comments he considers unfavorable. I explained that my reduced visits this summer were partly due to personal hardships, including two family bereavements and a job change; these statements were not acknowledged. Throughout the meeting, I was interrupted frequently, and my concerns were met with defensiveness. When I raised the topic of improving customer service and communication, the owner abruptly ended the conversation, told me the discussion was over, and escorted me out of the building in front of other members, opening the office gate forcefully and walking me to the exit. I have also personally seen other members’ concerns about similar issues posted to Facebook, only to be removed, and during our conversation the owner acknowledged that multiple families had approached him directly with disappointment about the direction of the clubhouse. My membership has since been cancelled at my request, and while I appreciate that no further charges will be made, my experience leaves me concerned about the club’s current management approach. I hope that in the future, member feedback will be met with constructive dialogue, professional communication, and the delivery of amenities as advertised. From my personal experience along with others, this to be an unsafe environment, emotionally, for families who are paying for a positive experience. If any feedback and concerns are addressed it is met with unprofessionalism, retaliation, and defensiveness.

I can confirm everything that a few prior commenters have posted. I was first introduced to Langford Farms Club when I was about 9 years old in the 1980s. We went every day during the summers; my sister and I went by ourselves and met friends on summer weekdays when we were teens. Weekends were family time. those memories are some of my favorites of my entire childhood. Both my parents have been gone for a couple of decades, but I can still see them sitting by the pool; my dad wearing out the diving boards and my mom chatting with her friends by the baby pool, facing the big pool where we were learning our ways around the water . I moved away for a decade or so; but when my now 9-year-old nephew was two, we rejoined. It's where he learned to swim and to love water. My almost-six-year-old niece spent her first summer---Covid summer--at the pool and that was where we got to really know her after months of social-distancing. Brad and Becky (the previous owners) got to know our family, as did staff. they always "know our name." They were always concerned with promoting an inclusive environment where all members felt it was "our club." Enter 2025. Another commenter said she felt "unsafe." I will agree with her---but to provide context, this is no longer a place where "everyone knows your name." I haven't had a "safe" feeling since day one of this leadership. If you are friends with the current owners (and feel compelled to give a random glowing review), you probably feel just fine with the place. If you are a member concerned with a whopping membership rate increase that was due at the summer season, you're rightly upset over the almost-two weeks' worth of closures due to maintenance issues (you can verify this on their Facebook page). Add on top of that the reduced hours when extended hours were promised (also verifiable with a quick look at their web/social media pages). And I cut my foot on the crumbling pool bottom yesterday (8/10) in the shallow end-- an absolute hazard that's been brought to the owner's attention and met with "we can't do everything" responses. One pool or another has been closed at least eight days this summer due to maintenance issues. The issues were widely known structural issues that were not addressed in favor of slapping aesthetic "upgrades" on the place. They also trashed decades worth of tennis and swim team trophies....I guess they didn't fit the new "theme." Many have approached management with legitimate concerns and thoughts in a very diplomatic manner. We have all been dismissed. The latest issue was a late-summer themed movie during which they plan to change club policy to offer a themed-menu and prohibiting "outside" food and drink from their members. No doubt it's to recoup the $$ from the hundred thousand gallons of water lost during their most recent maintenance malfunction last month. This place used to be Heaven. We counted the days from Labor Day to Memorial Day opening day. Others did, too, as evidenced by years-old reviews. Today, I don't recognize it at all. I'd take the old paint and iffy vending machine with the family atmosphere over what we have now. Sadly....very, very, very sadly...we will not be renewing our membership voluntarily for the first time in almost 40 years. I almost feel like someone died...this place has meant so much to us. The new owner has deleted almost every comment I've made on the Facebook (only avenue) page. And none of them were rude. He can't erase this one. I hope people will heed the warning. There ARE other places that will take care of their members much, much better.

My family and I love Langford! We spend so much time at the pool in the summer, and my kids absolutely love seeing their friends here—it’s become a place where we’ve made so many great memories together. I truly appreciate the new owners for taking on the challenge of restoring Langford and investing the time, money, and effort to make it a nice place for the community. We’ve noticed the improvements, from the upkeep of the facilities to the increased security measures that make me feel safe bringing my family. It’s clear they care about protecting the integrity of the membership. We’re thankful they were willing to step in, take on the responsibility, and work to make Langford a place we’re proud to be a part of.

My kid's father and I both grew up there and loved it! It unfortunately became really rundown overtime. Unsafe cracks in the concrete, HVAC issues in the clubhouse, inconsistency with rule enforcement between guards. But most recently ownership changed hands. They have two younger children about my kid's age. Apparently there was an issue between my daughter and theirs so I attempted to address it privately with them. I will attach the response. We formerly went to church w them and I had agreed to take them on as a client when they were in a pinch. Apparently that and we divided a carpool bc their son felt unsafe on the bus. Then when my car broke down they gave the kids a ride home and introduced me to their friend w a car lot. I have no idea what it's like as far as repairs since they took over this year but their conflict resolution needs improvement. I guess as long as you don't have any complaints and your kids get along w their kids, it might be fine.
