I want to share my journey with Lake Point! We made the move to Lake Point in October of 2024. My daughter competed with the level 3 team and had a pretty excellent year until the day after state.... my daughter jumped down a flight of stairs at home and broke her ankle. It was devastating she had to have surgery with 2 screws placed. Naturally, this created some new fears that we had to overcome. It was hands down the hardest year of my life watching my baby struggle. She struggled to take it easy in gymnastics and then she struggled to pick up where we left off. She developed mental blocks and fears that I honestly thought was going to be the end of her gymnastics journey. My daughter who has been a gymnast since she was 2 and would cry that she needed to work out when she gets a week off at the gym, was going to give up and not be able to over come and honestly I wouldn't blame her. I dont know that I would have come back from that...Jordyn wasnt taking that, she came up with a plan for her involving moving her to Gold ( or level 3.5 as she put it) and giving her a little more time to get past the fears. At first I was crushed, I thought this was a huge step back. I am here to shout from the roof tops that my baby competed all 4 events this January and has all of her back tumbling back, is jumping to high bar, and doing her back walkover on the high beam!! I am so incredibly proud of my girl, I am proud of her perseverance to do what she loves. She didnt want to give up and Jordyn stuck with her to help her in that!! I cannot even begin to understand how frustrating and difficult this last year has been for Jordyn seeing the potential and watching the struggle. Yet, there Jordyn was, communicating with me and my daughter about the plan and including us in decisions. It wasn't always easy to trust the process or the coach while watching my baby struggle. Im glad I did!! Thank you Jordyn and Lake Point for navigating this very challenging time in our lives and making us come out whole on the other side. My girl has goals of competing level 4 next season and for the first time in a year I have hope that she will reach this goal!! Picture is from her first meet of the gold season!! Switching gyms to lake point has been the best decision we have made. The coaches are not only excellent at coaching gymnastics, they truly care about each and every gymnast’s wellbeing and individualize coaching to meet physical and emotional needs.
