Powered by GoogleThe staff is friendly and the facility is well kept. They have lots to offer and alot of refilled and additions have been made. My family enjoyed our welcome tour!
After several injuries I needed a low impact way to stay in shape and the pool seemed to be the best option. As a muscle bound man I sink like a freaking rock but Doug’s classes were top tier. 10/10
We recently got a family membership at the Painesville Central YMCA. I brought my daughters in, and they completed all required training for the exercise machines. Staff confirmed—by reading directly from their system—that my 11-year-old, Talia, completed the training and was approved. Despite this, every time we come in, she is denied access to the machines. Each visit comes with a different answer, even after staff acknowledges the note in the computer stating she completed the training. She is excited to work out alongside her sisters, and being repeatedly told “no” after doing everything asked of her has been very discouraging. If you have younger children who are eager to participate and follow the rules, I would not recommend this YMCA. The inconsistency in enforcement and communication creates unnecessary frustration and puts kids in an uncomfortable position.
While the building has had some renovations there are still parts that could use a face lift. However with helpful staff and a very clean environment there’s no reason to pass on your local YMCA.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review for Painesville YMCA The Painesville YMCA is truly one of the best facilities in the county. The Child Watch program is outstanding — by far the best around — and the staff there genuinely care about the kids. They often do crafts with them, are incredibly attentive, and treat every child so well. They work so hard it’s ridiculous, yet always seem to have a smile on their faces and something kind or encouraging to say. I honestly can’t appreciate them enough. The services and programs offered are excellent, and there’s always something for everyone whether you’re looking to lift, swim, take classes, or just get a solid workout in. The staff are fantastic, especially Michele at the front desk, who greets members by name and always starts my mornings on a positive note. The facility is clean, well-run, and welcoming, and although I also enjoy the Madison YMCA, Painesville stands out for so many solid reasons. A few minor downsides worth noting: the Child Watch area is up several flights of stairs, which isn’t ideal for those with mobility issues; I once had a bag stolen, though that was an isolated incident; and occasionally the ceiling leaks, so a bucket might make an appearance. The strips along the track area could also use some maintenance, and it would be great if they added a stretching machine like some other gyms have. The app/ website is really wonky/ funky, so I wish it was a bit more organized and user friendly. That said, the positives absolutely outweigh the negatives. Painesville YMCA remains a top-notch facility with incredible staff and community spirit — definitely deserving of a full 5 stars.
