Kong Academy is a Seattle movement-education organization offering play- and parkour-based summer camps for children ages 4-12. Camps are built around immersive story themes (such as Pirate Parkour Adventure) and teach agility, balance, climbing and vaulting alongside social-emotional skills. The organization also runs after-school programs in dozens of area schools.

Powered by GoogleWe've worked with Kong Academy for several years and they are wonderful to work with. They are highly organized, and are willing to make use of our outdoor spaces for year-round programming. Their instructors have been fantastic and have made it possible for students with special needs to participate, which is a big win for us. Kong Academy is a great choice if your school is looking to add a positive, movement-based club that helps kids build strong social-emotional skills.
My kids have been attending Kong Academy's summer camp for years, and we knew we wanted to try out one of their birthday parties. We did a Nerf gun battle-themed party for my son's 8th birthday. It was a phenomenally fun time, and all the kids (and the grown-ups!) had an absolute blast, all led by Kong Academy staff and done with clear safety rules and boundaries that kept everybody in one piece. Pros of booking a Kong Academy birthday party: Nobody has to drive 30-45 minutes to one of the many usual birthday party venues in the suburbs, you get multiple dedicated staff leading the kids through planned activities (just like summer camp), the kids get to wear out all their energy and use their imagination, you can have any food/drink/cake option you want (not limited to purchasing a food/drink package like at a party venue), did I mention this is all RIGHT in the heart of north Seattle at the Phinney Neighborhood Association. Downsides: You have to bring all your own food, beverage, and decorations. Kong takes care of setup / takedown of the mats and equipment for the activity, but you have to take care of setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and decor for the party / food area, as well as cleanup. Also, due to the fact that they need to plan staffing ahead of time, there's a lot of pressure to pin down an exact headcount of party attendees a full week beforehand, which can be tough with a large group of kids. Overall very much well worth it and for sure one of my son's favorite birthdays ever! Highly recommended.
I hosted my son's 6th birthday party here with a Star Wars theme and it was such a success. The planning process was simple and straightforward. At the party the hosts from Kong managed to keep a group of 20+ 3-6 year olds thoroughly engaged and entertained for 2.5+ hours! They ran through Star Wars themed obstacle courses and played a number of games. I would highly recommend Kong Academy for a birthday party!
Kong Academy hosted my 7 year old's birthday party. He has enthusiastically participated in the Parkour Camp they run over the summer as well as after school classes, so we thought a parkour birthday party would be fun. Communication leading up to the event was clear and easy. The two leaders who ran the party did a fantastic job of engaging the kids with fun games and activities for the majority of the time (about 1.5 hours for parkour/fun and 30 min for cake/food). They did a great job interacting with the children and leading them in different activities. The space was a good size for the party (we had 13 kids + their grownups). It was set up with obstacles for the kids which were moved around and modified for different games. Tables and chairs were along the side the space for us to use as needed. My son and his friends ran, jumped, climbed, imagined, and had such an amazing time. I'll also note that he had friends joining from several different friend groups, and the nature of the games really encouraged everyone to play together so nicely. Would definitely recommend Kong Academy for birthdays We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and fun birthday for kids who like to move! We remain impressed.
Ninja Parkour Adventure Summer Camp was awesome! My 6 year old daughter loved it. We had one day where the drop off was very difficult (I think my daughter was very tired from the previous days of ninja training) and our counselor Brenna helped us through. Thank you Brenna for being such a great leader! (Photo from after care which was also great! The kids created an elaborate fort with their new camp skills).
