Katy Youth Football

I have had 2 boys in this league and about to have a 3rd. I wish there was some other league in Katy but unless you go select there is not. The league has got progressively worst throughout the years. They have cut events they use to have, film on games have got worse and worse each year, and the tackle league has shrunk do to coddling for flag. Just this past year we signed up for the winter tournament and 2 days before the tournament we were told by the league it was canceled. And mind you the league did not reached out, our coach reached out to the director. So they don't mind taking your money but will not tell you something in canceled. This year turf bowl video was not sent out either. Mind you they say no videography can be done because THEY will provide it. Last year they did not provide the pictures they said they would. It is a lack of care at this point because unless you are willing to go select there is no where else to play. There is so much potential in the Katy area to thrive and have a great league but the institutional leadership is not there. I hope something changes but I do not see anything getting better anytime so.

Our experience with Katy Youth Football was extremely disheartening and left a bad taste in our mouths. Our team was one of the strongest in the league. But instead of celebrating our success in round one of the playoffs, KYF disqualified us, citing a rule violation. We were completely unaware of the broken rule, yet KYF punished the entire roster without a fair investigation. From the very beginning, it felt like the organization had it out for us and did everything they could to get us removed. The truth is, they simply couldn’t handle the talent and the culture our team brought to the field, and instead of letting the kids prove themselves, they looked for ways to sideline us. Meanwhile, other teams breaking the same rule faced no consequences. This selective enforcement makes it clear that favoritism is alive and well in KYF. On top of that, the referees were unprofessional, making bad calls, ignoring obvious fouls, often turning a blind eye, and throwing out penalties like beads at a Mardi Gras parade. The officiating felt stacked against our team, further reinforcing the sense that KYF was determined to undermine us. To make matters worse, the board of directors and officers were rude, and dismissive in their interactions, showing little respect for players, coaches, or families. Youth sports should be about integrity, fairness, and teaching kids respect. Instead, KYF has shown inconsistency, favoritism, and poor leadership. They need to enforce their rules uniformly and stop making exceptions for select families or coaches. Families should think twice before trusting this league with their children’s development.

Katy Youth Football has been a complete disappointment. The bias toward the Bears all season was obvious. Bad calls, missed fouls, nonstop penalties — the refs treated this team completely differently. After seeing it game after game, it’s impossible not to call it what it felt like: racial bias and favoritism. KYF punished the one team they’ve been targeting all season while protecting others breaking the same rules. They robbed these kids of the playoff spot they earned. If you expect fairness for your child, look elsewhere.

The league leaders choose to follow rules when they want to and enforce poorly thought out or articulated regulations. A coach by kyf regulations is required to play all children at least 6 downs per half for a total of 12 plays. If you have a team of say 25 that would mean that there would need to be 300 downs in a single game. (An unpredictable game) so if a coach only has 250 downs in a game then the coach will have to be suspended or get penalties. Seems to me if you look at it like this then the league is at fault for overloading a team. Im a parent on the sidelines and watch all these teams not meet these regulations. Our coach was suspended basically for the season from a parent that said their kid isn't playing enough. My child first and foremost has been showing improvement and thats all I ask for.

This league is HORRIBLE!!! VERY poorly run when it comes to organization & communication, especially from the board. Delonia Cooley is the ABSOLUTE WORST. It is harder to get a child registered to play than it is to get a government passport. IT'S LITTLE LEAGUE FOOTBALL PEOPLE! The refs do not follow specific rules in the rule book, In addition, some games only have 1 ref IF AT ALL. they often miss many touch calls because he is the only set of eyes and often is standing several yards from the actual plays. Games are never started on time and the uniforms don't arrive until game day! Some uniforms are missing on game day. On top of all that, games are 45 minutes away! It is a complete disappointment and I highly recommend other leagues such as Ft Bend or i9... Anything BUT Katy - Complete JOKE.
