With KAST Academy we found more than a “dance studio”, we found a community. From day one, this studio has been welcoming, inclusive, & genuinely diverse in a way that feels real, not performative. Every dancer is valued. Every family is seen. And that matters more than I can put into words. The teachers are absolutely phenomenal! They are experienced, knowledgeable, and deeply invested in developing not just strong technique, but confident, disciplined, & expressive dancers. Their positive coaching style builds kids up instead of breaking them down. You can feel the years of experience in the way they teach and mentor. The owners Mr. Keith & Mrs. Summer Turk are understanding, compassionate, and intentional about creating an environment where talent is nurtured with integrity. They are developing extremely talented dancers while still protecting the joy of dance & from our previous experience, that balance is rare. The parent community is just as incredible. Supportive, encouraging, and genuinely happy for each other’s children. It truly feels like a village. We travel over 30 minutes to be here, passing studios closer to home, and I would choose this one every single time. It’s worth every mile & every penny. If you’re looking for one of the best studios in Sacramento, this is it. 💫 So grateful we found our dance home.

We saw Kast at a recent competition and were deeply offended by the way the owners and parents behaved. They acted as though they owned the place and treated others so rudely; unless you looked at them with admiration. Their main group dance was terrible. They messed up so many times and the dance looked chaotic; yet they won. There have been rumors over the years that they pay off judges and I am definitely seeing this now. I decided to look them up and was shocked to see so many negative reviews as well as the owner himself posting a 5 star review that completely dismissed negative reviews and talked disgustingly to those reviewers. Why wouldn't he just reply to the reviewers post instead of creating a new 5 star review; yep, to boost his score. They definitely have inflated egos and are far from humble and it even shows in his written review. I would not want my child to be around their influence. Seems strange their old/good reviews come from people who work for them or have the family name. Their Instagram keeps changing. They have reviews turned off on their Facebook page; wonder why? Why are there TWO googles for them? They closed for a few years and were going out of business but since reopening they still claim they have been open for a long term of years. Yeah they were on the local news briefly; but it was only due to the reporter who even said she was personal friends with them. So much is just off about this place! I feel sorry for any parent currently associating with them. Pure Embarrassment! I had a close friend of my child's at a new studio leave their studio due to their expensive fees and extra charges for everything and anything and now I see they are reviewed as overpriced. I see they posted they donate time but why say that? You obviously don't and income or profit should never be mentioned by an owner. This is just a very sad excuse for a dance studio; and yes, I said studio! They are not an academy as he wrote in over-emphasis. They are not accredited anywhere and simply chose the word in their name. Please do not trust this place or their owners and go for the many many other studios listed in the Best of Sacramento; WAY ABOVE them at the bottom of the list.

After firsthand experience as a grandparent, I feel compelled to speak up because the concerns raised in recent reviews are not isolated. The facility is consistently unclean and poorly maintained. In today’s climate—especially in spaces serving children—basic cleanliness and supplies should be non-negotiable. That standard is simply not met here. While the owners often emphasize that they “donate” their time, this is irrelevant to families paying for a service. Clients are not responsible for a business’s internal sacrifices. If an academy positions itself as elite, it should reflect that through professional staffing, preparedness, structure, and a clean, safe environment. Classes feel inconsistent and under-prepared, communication is minimal, and expectations are unclear. Clients are left guessing instead of feeling informed and confident. The shared bathroom situation raises legitimate safety concerns, especially for young children when parents are unavailable. This issue is dismissed rather than addressed, which is troubling. Most parents and grandparents do not leave negative reviews lightly. The volume and consistency of critical feedback across multiple locations should give prospective families pause. Ultimately, there are many well-run, professional dance studios in the area that prioritize structure, safety, communication, and respect for families. This was not one of them. My grandchildren will not be returning.

Hey Jessey. With hopes you see this message. YOU ARE CORRECT on alot of this. A husband and wife do teach the classes, there may not be any toilet paper both times you used the restroom, and we do share bathrooms with other sports. ITS A SPORTS FACILITY. Now if you think of the two times you came and had to used the bathroom, and times it by 7 sport classes in a complex, more than like people that use the bathroom in public such as yourself would know these things happen quite a bit. Being an ACADEMY where dancers dreams have come true many many many time over leads us to believe that the teachers may know what they are doing. Are you a teacher? Hmmm. The building is frequented by alot of athletes all day long, it has not time to just sit like a regular dance studio. Lastly, small businesses are usually more caring and more for the PEOPLE, this is why KAST has the highest professional dance turn over in the STATE. So if you are looking for a dance studio to throw money in cause its pretty, by all means go ahead. This is an academy where the “Husband and wife”DONATE 80 % of their time. Check their resumes dear. Signed up for a month & abandoned after two weeks. Facility was very dirty & not maintained, not even toilet paper in the bathroom both weeks we went.Plus adults from a random fitness gym in the same building use the same bathrooms..not safe for kids.Despite their trophies I felt I was in some makeshift garage.They only had one actual dance studio and only the owner and her husband teach the classes so this has a very ghetto/makeshift feeling.Class was not put together well and not prepared, seemed slapped together in the moment.The teacher did have some good dance instruction but was not in tune with the kids.Communication was almost nonexistant and we never knew what was happening.They tried to get me to sign a long term contract when we started but I noticed a quitting clause and realized something was not right with them. Thankfully I did not sign.The woman i signed up with and paid is actually one of the people who put a positive review which leads to more questions on the validity of their already limited positive reviews.I would never recommend this place to anyone.There are so many amazing dance studios in the area, why settle for way below par.Stay far away!
