I am very disappointed in Journey's unwillingness to work out some sort of accommodation with one of their casting policies. They require that each family with someone cast in the show also provide a volunteer to work behind the scenes in some way to bring the production to fruition. While I understand this policy from the perspective of their children's shows (getting a parent or other family member involved while the child is in the cast), it seems less practical to require this of adults in their community theater production. My wife and I are both professional performers, but we are on our own here in Vancouver without other family around. We both have extensive experience with community theaters and are used to putting in work related to other aspects of the production (such as pulling together props, assisting in getting posters up in the community, etc.) in addition to what we do as performers; we just don't have another family member to provide as an additional volunteer to the production. When we expressed this and asked if there was any way to put in extra volunteer time ourselves to help accommodate production needs (if we were both cast), we were told that simply was not possible. This means that one of us would need to choose NOT to be in the show to be the "volunteer" for the other. Requiring this additional person on top of already charging a fee from each cast member to participate is something we have never seen from any other community theater or professional theater we have worked with, and it makes participation untenable for the two of us together.

My family and I went to see Footloose last night. To be honest, I was a bit reluctant to sit for 2+ hrs (w/intermission) to watch it, not knowing if I'd even like it all that much. 😬 I gotta say, this was like a 10/10 in all categories! Such a wonderful job done by ALL. There's some serious talent in that group, and it's obvious exactly how much those kids put into their performances. We're excited to see another production very soon. 🤩

It’s truly hard to put into words just how special my time at Journey Theater was. It wasn’t just a theater program—it was one of the most meaningful and unforgettable experiences of my life. Journey helped me grow in ways I never imagined. It brought me out of my shell, gave me the confidence to step into the spotlight, and surrounded me with the most incredible community of friends and mentors. Some of my dearest memories were made there—on stage, in rehearsals, and in the little in-between moments that made it all so magical. I’ll always treasure the laughter, the friendships, and the sense of belonging that Journey gave me. Sadly, my time with Journey happened right before the world changed. When COVID hit, everything shifted. So many familiar faces didn’t return after the lockdown, and it felt like a part of the heart of the company was missing. Returning didn't seem like something I could do. It was hard not getting to say goodbye, or to share the stage again with friends who had become like family. In some ways, it felt like that magic—so unique and precious—had quietly slipped away. That said, I know Journey Theater continues to do amazing things, and I’m so grateful it still stands as a place where young people can find their voice and their people. Though things may never be the same, the impact it had on me will never fade. From the bottom of my heart—thank you to everyone who was a part of that chapter in my life. I carry those memories with me always. I miss it so much.

I learned about Journey Theater from a high school friend seven years ago, and I continue to watch their plays with my family quite often. Also, my younger sister took a class from them a couple of years ago and had an excellent experience. Her classmates were all kind, as well as the teachers. It's evident that the people here aren't just focused on art, they are focused on being good people too. Even if you are not related to any of the performers, I think it's a wonderful program to watch quality plays in the Vancouver and Portland metro area. Good prices and they typically have good venues. A lot of the performers are young, but these aren't just typical high school plays. It's clear that the performers are passionate about their work, and every production I've seen has been amazing. They're full of character. All of the productions are family-friendly, but they perform most of the big ones, especially Disney classics like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, even Newsies. I look forward to continue watching them.

My grand-daughter is enrolled in Journey and is having a fantastic time (2014-2015). This is a great group for a child of any age to join - there are so many things available for them to learn in an encouraging environment, from drama to voice to dance. Also, the opportunities to learn what goes on backstage as well. What could be more fun for a child than learning to play in a constructive way!
