Jacksonville Basketball Academy runs youth basketball camps directed by high-school coach Jim Martin, focused on fundamentals in ballhandling, shooting, passing and defense. Camp days mix skill instruction with competitive drills and games (Hot Shots, 3-on-3, 5-on-5) and Friday championships. Specialized shooting camps use a Shooting Gun machine for high-volume reps, and 3-on-3 camps emphasize ball touches and game play.

Best basketball training for kids. Coaches are taking their training seriously giving feedback and advice to each player, my kids have been working hard to improve their skills.

Really wasn't happy with the experience there. It's $175 a month to have your kids trained by area highschool coaches, mostly from Providence. Or at least that's what it was when my son was there. There's some helpful drills they run them through, and some good pointers, and they do a lot of scrimmages. The practice sessions were helpful. The issue is you're paying for training, it is called an Academy after all. Well they have games on the weekends against other organizations, and being that these games are to provide additional training, it seems logical that kids should get as much playing time/training as possible. What I discovered was that the game play time is unevenly allocated, with Providence students getting about all of the time. With a team of only 7 players, rather than distributing the time better, my son and another kid who didn't go to Providence, only experienced about 7 total minutes of play time out of a 40 minute game. Meanwhile the five providence kids were about to collapse. Yet I was paying the same price as the other parents. And as a result their team lost every game by 20 points or more. Go figure. Also the behavior of the parents were both embarrassing and inexcusable. The coaches would have to send weekly emails to warn the parents to act like adults. After seeing the program for what it was, it was really hurting my son's self confidence and esteem, I got my son in the YMCA and they have played some of the same teams he played against and lost against at the JBA and his new team won instead of getting beaten. Moreso my son was given a fair chance to play and he's been averaging 17-19 points a game and has been the top rebounder for his team. He's learning a lot and getting coached well for a fraction of the cost. I really wished I knew this before I wasted my money at this so-called "Academy". Their program sounds better than it is.

Amazing! I started my son there not knowing how to play basketball at all. He’s now thriving and has developed self confidence that goes far beyond the court. Coaches are kind and make point to know every kid by name and skill level. My son is now in his 4th season and loves basketball. Coach Jim and Coach Calvin are the best of the best.

JBA is truly THE BEST training camp for all basketball players! Coach Martin is truly phenomenal and his words of encouragement are truly meaningful day after day! My son has gained confidence, new skills, new friends and so much more from attending JBA’s summer camp! I’m so thankful to have found such a fun camp! The atmosphere is up beat, there’s no boring down time each minute is used and the athletes are smiling the entire time! If you have a basketball player in your family THIS IS THE PLACE to train at!

Amazing facility. Kids love being there. Coaching staff are great, really engage with the kids and know what they are doing. Great drills and skill development unavailable elsewhere.
