I’m disappointed with how the youth basketball teams were organized. I enrolled my child expecting him to play with kids close to his age and developmental level, but the teams were grouped together across 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The differences in height, strength, and skill at those ages are significant, which created an uneven and discouraging experience for younger players. In addition, one of the teams appeared to be made up almost entirely of players from a private school who already play together. This further added to the imbalance and made the league feel more competitive and exclusive than recreational. My main concern is that this setup is neither fair nor safe for younger children and takes away from what should be a positive, confidence-building experience. I chose a community center program expecting a focus on development, learning, and equal opportunity, and unfortunately this did not meet those expectations.

The pool at this facility is excellent and a highlight of the experience. However, the gym leaves much to be desired. It is overly small and packed with equipment, making the space feel cramped and uncomfortable. The temperature in the gym is too warm, which makes workouts unpleasant esp. cardio. Unfortunately, there is no dedicated area for stretching or functional exercises, requiring you to take weights to an upstairs room that is not always available. The overall layout feels claustrophobic, and despite the local discount, the gym simply doesn’t justify the cost.

Whenever we are in town we stop here for a workout. The locals are somewhat tolerant of our sporadic drop-ins. My father has a cabin in incline. We usually buy a family pass for the week which is super reasonable. I love the basketball court and shooting around before I lift weights. The warm indoor pool for laps and fooling around with the kids is a great way to get out of a snowbound cabin and get some fun family exercise. I’m always perplexed at well funded fitness facilities of this size that have a tiny weight area and don’t have barbells. The facility is huge but they cram the hamster wheels and weights into a closet sized area. It’s a 1970’s health club model. The cardio/weight room is the most utilized area but it gets the least space. The entrance lobby is bigger than the gym. It would be nice to expand this space to accommodate the demand.
