Powered by GoogleThis place is a great place for scouts to earn merit badges, learn fun new skills, and see how other troops operate. My son has attended for three years and I’ve been a chaperone for two. Scouting has been an excellent teacher for him for self-confidence, working with others, and building leadership.
Staff is top notch, programs are great, and is overall a great camp. Would highly recommend. Slightly edges out Camp Noyo and Camp John Mensinger, although those two set the bar high on their own! Photos are of Chubb Lake, the shotgun range, and some general photos of the surroundings.
From my son; It was amazing because of the big sledding hills there were, and the hiking trails I went on. One of my favorite things I did was having snowball fights. I recommend bringing good gloves and a sled because camping is a lot more fun when you sled. It also helps to get your gear from the truck to the campsite.
One of the best BSA summer camps our troop has visited. Excellent program, and staff. Marin Sierra allows scouts to experience true scouting through a well thought out program. Marin Sierra's program allows scout's to team build and learn through doing, not lecture. Not only are there countless options for scouts to grow, the camp also provides opportunities for leader training and development. An absolutely fantastic camp that our entire troop looks forward to visiting again.
We had a good experience over all but there are definitely a lot of things that were not OK. The bathrooms and the facilities were absolutely disgusting. We used the adult shower in the Ibachi lodge and that was the "nicest" one! Nasty! The food was very pleasant for camp food. I will have to say the portions were not enough to keep a growing boy from being hungry. If you were to look at standard portion sizes they were not met in any of the categories. ( There was a rumor it was because of other troops deciding not to make their own food) Their trail to 1st class director was not necessarily is somebody appropriate for that position. Very nice sky but just not the right knowledge for that particular job. There were several times while " teaching " the kids different things he was wrong! Their handicraft area was staffed absolutely amazingly. I recommended to one of the young kids and their that maybe he possibly take the position for trail to 1st classed next year. He was super great with the kids even the ones with special needs My review sounds like it was all bad but the kids had an absolutely amazing time and the camp over all was a very beautiful place.
