Camp Alta

Camp Alta is a Christian camp and retreat property in the Sierra Nevada at Alta that both hosts other churches' and organisations' retreats and runs its own short overnight Kids Camp. Kids Camp is offered in two grade bands, 1st-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade, each running roughly three days, with swimming, games and crafts alongside daily worship and Bible teaching led by trained staff. The 2026 sessions were priced at $195 per camper with registration opening April 1. The property was purchased from the Berkeley Girl Scouts and entrusted to an association of Southern Baptist churches in the Sacramento area, and a doctrinal statement of beliefs is published on the site.

This is a pristine camp. They keep it as clean as possible and the staff are genuinely kind people

I’ve been going here for church camps since I was a young girl, and have made countless, meaningful memories. Now, as a mother of a 2 year old girl and a newborn boy, I am able to enjoy God’s creation with my young family as we fellowship with His people. The entire staff have always been so wonderful and really do exemplify the love of God through their hospitality.

Camp Alta is a beautiful place to grow closer to Jesus. It has great lodging and fantastic staff who go above and beyond to provide hospitality for their guests.

Nice place! I recommend for camps or recreation. There is a swimming pool. Beautiful nature around. There is a place for sports games. The director is a nice person. In some places, the camp needs renovation and repair but overall everything is fine. But I will write a couple of shortcomings. Mobile communication here is bad. If there is a need to get in touch, it is possible to do it only on the playing field. The second disadvantage is that the water in the pool is cold and it does not heat up under the summer sun.

Such a wonderful place where youth can gather together without any electronic devices and able to enjoy the camp with fellow church members. The location and setting is idea to get away from the city and be in with nature. My son went there three years in a roll and always look forward to go again with the church youth. Loved all the staff members.
