My daughter has been danced at Idols for the last 7 years and is excited to start her 8th year! She absolutely loves dancing at Idols where she has amazing teachers and has made new friends. The teachers truly care about each student and want them to succeed to the best of their ability. The dance family of dancers, parents, and teachers that love and support each other makes it easy to come back every year.

My son did the Prince & Princess camp for the first time this summer and he absolutely loved it! The teacher was very welcoming and wonderful with all the kids. He is continuing with Idols so he can further learn and grow as a dancer! We are confident that Idols will help nurture his love for dance and tumbling!

The Idols Dance Company Handbook actually states: ”Parents and students should never post negative comments about the studio, teachers, [etc.] . . . Slander is a very serious offense and legal action will be taken in such events.” I think this scares people away from sharing when they’ve had a negative experience. This is a huge red flag and indicative of the director, April’s, personality. Everyone I’ve told about what April did to us agrees with me. April threatened to pull my kids from the dance recital when I said that her policies were not inclusive of diverse populations. My kids said their dance teachers would frequently yell at the other kids 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also they never started classes on time. Furthermore, the studio is filthy and didn’t appear to ever be cleaned at all in the two years we were there. My kids told me there were lots of dead spiders and hair on the floors. Their tights were so dirty that even the washing machine couldn’t get the floor stains out. This is especially impressive since outdoor shoes aren’t even allowed inside the studio and so that must mean the dirt is just an accumulation of never being cleaned. My husband used the men’s bathroom and was horrified by the conditions. We feel sorry for the male dancers. Do not recommend. Find a studio with a kind and fair director who actually deserves your support. (I told April I was going to leave a review and I’m pretty sure she then asked people to leave positive reviews to counteract my review, and she threatens to sue people who leave negative reviews, so take the good reviews with a grain of salt.)

Idols Dance Company is a professional, encouraging environment that I believe can benefit all! Teachers are attentive to detail and make sure to give differentiated instruction to their students (something also encouraged by school teachers). Teachers help build confidence by providing high quality instruction to their students and being there for them in time of need. Even teachers who didn’t even teach my dancer, knew her, accepted her and got to know/bonded with her, something that is not easy to do when you already have a lot on your plate. You can tell the dancers are a family and genuinely care for one another. New or returning student, there is always a positive energy in the room! The studio places well at competitions (always a nice boost) and you can tell they still love their recreational dancers, which is something not all studios do when they have so many competition dancers. Costumes for recital are always so nice and so their recital overall! It is an easy to understand process and is an amazing show! Every number is clean and entertaining! Overall, you can tell teachers and director April really care for their students and we will be back for years to come! 💙💛

April is such a gem! She owns and operates Idols, and I am thrilled that she has another location in Pittsford that is unbelievable convenient for my daughter to go to! It's about 15 minutes from wherever you are in Rochester! They offer ballet, jazz, TUMBLING! and so much more, this place is awesome and a definite must for all school ages.
