The Hochstein School runs a slate of week-long summer camps in music, art, and movement, headlined by its Arts in Action camps for ages 5-10, which are offered in three themed sessions with both half-day and full-day options. Other camps are more specialized: Writing Songs & Making Beats, string, piano, woodwind and brass chamber music, Flute Camp, and an Around the World of Dance camp covering African, Latin, Brazilian, modern, and hip hop forms plus yoga. Hochstein is a nonprofit community school in downtown Rochester whose stated mission is access to music and dance education for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

★★★★★Reviewer GalI love it here. I see Yi- Wen Chang for piano lessons- I used to take lessons from her when I was a lot younger about 10 years ago. I started again about a year and a half ago. She is incredibly professional, experienced, hardworking, patient, encouraging, loving, and is very attentive to details- she is a phenomenal pianist and musician. I am always impressed by her kindness, openness, passion for the piano/ teaching others, willingness to work with you, honesty, and professionalism ! I also love how Hochstein offers financial aid if you need assistance with the lesson tuition costs. It’s also a very beautiful building- has a lot of character/warmth since it’s an old time vibe city home/ building. I also absolutely love Bob at the front desk I always have a hoot having conversations with him when I come in for my lesson- he always tells me to “have fun!” at my lesson and tells me how he’s “old and cranky like always “. 😂😎🤩

For several years we've been taking three of our grandkids to 'Orkidstra' - a four concert series through the year with music performed by our very own RPO and themed for children. Each event also includes a craft - today's was Halloween-themed with many in the audience and most on the stage in costume.
