Huffhines Tennis Center is the City of Richardson's public tennis facility, running weekly 'Summer Slam' tennis camps for ages 5-16 at all skill levels. Camps meet Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 12:30pm - a half-day schedule - and cost $150 including a camp T-shirt, with each week building to a tournament and a pizza party. Campers bring a racquet, water bottle, hat and a snack; loaner racquets are available for players without one. Reservations are taken by phone with at least one day's notice.

As an adult picking up a racket for the first time, I was a little nervous but the staff and coaches make you feel welcomed, offer genuine advice and are excited to see you sticking with it. The courts themselves are well maintained. The wind guards do show some wear and tear though. The hard courts give a good bounce with extra duty felt balls. The tennis center has plenty of parking either at the connecting park or behind some city buildings. You Do have to make a little walk from these parking lots to the tennis center. We drove 30 minutes to play here and I would make the drive again to play here.
