The Hogan YMCA is unlike any other, we moved our family over from LA and have been impressed with the level of care this Madison Y provides towards families. I have 4 kids (9,8,5&3yrs old) and have been dropping off my kids at the day care for my evening workouts and the play place exhausts my toddlers for a smooth evening routine. I can’t wait for the summer to come around for the outdoor pool to be open and filled with another year of memories. The staff at the Y is worthy of praise for all they do for the members. Thanks for starting family fun Fridays my kids have a blast with their fellow y friends. Thanks again!!!

This is a great facility with so much to offer. We visited the splash pad and pool during the family swim hour and received a week long free pass to use for our whole family (this is only permitted once per year). The indoor splash pad is very well designed with wading areas, water sprayers from the floor and above, water guns, and more. There are bathrooms and changing areas attached to the pool deck for easy access. There is always 3 or more lifeguards on duty. There is something for everyone. I will definitely be getting a membership in the future. We have really enjoyed our time!

I joined the YMCA because of its mission and the outstanding customer service shown by many of the front-line membership staff. Unfortunately, what I witnessed tonight completely contradicts the values the YMCA claims to stand for. I observed a hardworking staff member—someone who consistently goes above and beyond in his role as a sports coordinator—being treated in an extremely disturbing and stressful manner. Two police officers were involved, and instead of offering support or de-escalation, facility management failed to protect their employee. Even more troubling, multiple directors stood by and laughed while this situation unfolded. This is not an isolated concern. I have personally witnessed repeated instances of racial insensitivity at this branch, including racist comments left in public reviews that remained visible for months without any clear response or accountability from leadership. What makes this especially disheartening is that the staff member involved is someone who clearly cares deeply about the children and families he serves. Watching him be treated with such disregard—while leadership remained silent and dismissive—was unacceptable. The YMCA promotes values of inclusion, respect, and community. Until those values are actively upheld by leadership and not just printed on the walls, experiences like this will continue to undermine trust. I cannot support or ignore behavior that reflects racism and a lack of accountability.

Great gym, provides fun for kids and adults alike! Love the pool for the summer time with kids. Stays clean and staff is polite! I love the slides for my kids and the shallow end with the different water features. Plus, no contract and military veteran discount friendly!

Was here 6 years ago. So happy to come back.Well worth the money. Not 5 stars because I’m in Hazel Green Al. Would really like if one can be built out this way. I’m between 231/431 and Palaski Pike. Even some place on HWY 53 is closer. There still a lot of land out here. This is better facility then the one downtown Hsv. Really like the hours/days here & amenities. Clean place inside the building the parking lot is clean. The staff has always been helpful and knowledgeable all the times I been. Even when I call them great communication skills. very good job in choosing employees. I’m impressed too with the diversity of staff. That means a lot to me with the ages and the diversity of backgrounds and ages and culture and ethnicities. 👍🏾.
