What a great home base for Scouting Adventures. Staff are well trained, pleasant, and helpful. The property is a most beautiful natural setting with water, woods, streams, and mountains all within a short distance. The 2 camp formats offer Scouts the option of organized meals or rustic cooking. Day and weekend excursions outside of organized camp extend the year utilizing this amazing resource. Our Oct 2020 troup backpacking trip was truly amazing!

I'm not reviewing this from the view of a Boy Scout or anyone associated with the Boy Scouts. I am reviewing this from the view of a disabled hiker. I like to park in Hidden Valley Scout camp as a starting point for hikes in the southern part of the Belknap range. From here I've been able to get access to Mount Shannon, Goat Pasture Hill, Mount Mack, Round Pond, and Mount Anna. There are three main trails that leave from the parking lot. Well, actually you have to walk along a couple of dirt roads to actually reach the trailheads. But from here you can access the Orange Trail, the Red Trail, and the Yellow Trail which ascends and descends Mount Shannon. From the summit of Mount Shannon you can also take the yellow/blue Trail down the northern slope to where it picks up the Blue Trail by itself. From there you can go east towards the Red Trail, and at the junction you have the option to go north over Goat Pasture Hill or go south and follow the trail down around Sunset Lake and back to the parking lot. If you go west on the blue trail it has a nice overlook of one of the many marshes in the Belknap range. It will eventually lead you north to an old logging road which is marked with red and blue blazes, also known as Old Stage Road. It's from Old Stage Road that you can pick up trails to go to Mount Mack, Round Pond, and Mount Anna. Actually if you have enough time, daylight and the energy, you can also access Precipice Path Trail (both branches) right off of the Red Trail on the other side of Old Stage Road.The Blue Trail and the Red Trail both Ascend Mount Anna. The Orange Trail turns into the Mack Ridge Trail which is pretty steep going up, but once you reach the top the walk along there is very peaceful and serene all the way to mount Mack. You can also pick up Round Pond Trail South from the Orange Trail up there; they intersect at a fire ring built by the Boy Scouts. And taking Round Pond Trail South back down to Old Stage Road is actually quite a nice hike and does open up to a beautiful view of the Gorge. I don't hike when the camp is open for the scouts but you are able to as long as you check in with the administration building and let them know you're a hiker and what your projected route is. Even when the camp is closed for the season, they do have staff that stay there all year long. So it's a good idea to write your projected hiking route and put it on your dashboard, so if they're doing their rounds and see your car they will know why your car is there. It is also a good rule of safety to do that so that if something does happen to you and for some reason you can't signal for help and your car is still there after dark, they will have some idea of where to look for you.
