The place excellent for seniors they have places for tai chi their places to run and walk and they have all kinds of gym equipment and the people are very nice. I believe it’s free for seniors if they have silver sneakers application. Over 65 years old.

Arrived at the front desk at 5:30 with my family to get a quick tour. Two girls sitting at the front desk talking and no other members in sight. Once we were finally acknowledged I was told the guy who does the tours already left so I would have to come back Monday-Friday between 8 and 5. If that’s true, it’s really inconvenient for anyone who works typical hours and wants a tour before handing over the membership and sign up fee. I’m not even put off by that, because maybe they both had to stay at the front desk or something idk, but the way I was being spoken too had me feeling like an inconvenience to them. I would strongly suggest having more pleasant people as the first point of contact because we’ll be looking for a different place to go. Really disappointing.

Why do I have to hear the n word and f word dozens of times while I’m working out? Today (9/13/25) there was a “not white man” talking so loud that he could be heard all over the gym. He said the n word 17 times (yes I counted) and dropped repeated f-bombs. This also happened directly in front of the help desk upstairs and two YMCA employees, one of whom was a young man and the other was a well known personal trainer and staff member. Nobody did anything, this is normal behavior for the Harrison “family” Y. Ever time I have visit this location I hear people screaming profanity from the basketball courts, singing/rapping out loud (with earbuds on too) about murder, selling drugs and prostitution. I’m sick of this type of behavior in public, I won’t be returning and I’m going to share this/these experince(s) with the head office.

Really need to review your schedule for the pool. Closes at 1pm on Saturday. DURING SUMMER TIME. Make that make sense. Cant get the handful of teenagers you have as lifeguards to come in? Maybe look into hiring one of the many ADULT staff who do VERY LITTLE. Cannot count the amount of times I've come in to see people behind the desk watching movies, talking on their cells, or having nonwork conversations with other coworkers. Yall don't even have a climbing instructor for the dope wall. And without and instructor, NO ONE can climb. Get on the ball. DO BETTER.
