Harlem Jets (Jets of Harlem Inc.) is a nonprofit youth sports and development organization founded in 2005 at 2280 Frederick Douglass Blvd, offering tackle football, flag football, wrestling and cheer for ages 5-14 with trained and certified coaches and mentors. Alongside sport it runs after-school social-emotional meet-ups, tutoring, and high-school and college prep workshops free of charge, and reports that over 90% of Harlem youth who join graduate high school against a 63% local rate. The official site lists these season programs only; press coverage describes an annual 3-day overnight football camp in Pennsylvania for its players, but no summer camp appears on the organization's own site.

So I signed my son up for football because he asked and loves sports. I was excited for him to play and possibly make friends. I spoke to the head coach, Jamel. I informed him that my son has ADHD and attends therapy. He stated well all of them do that is nothing we work with children like that. Well my son had an incident (nothing physical) with one of the older children, then another child was hitting my son hard, I encouraged him to inform the coach. My son did and was told that he keeps complaining and that this may not be the program for him. Eventually the coach decided that my son should not return. No my son never had any fights or did anything disruptive, except forget his cleats and football pants and for that they put him out of football. However, that is okay because this team is very unorganized, coaches do not show up at practice, they argue with the children, practice is all over the place and this is very messy. I am actually happy my son no longer plays for the messy jets. Hopefully the Jets.org is reading this.
My brother played before and I remember overhearing my mom say the equipment and everything cost her over $1000 was kind of unorganized but overall solid orginization
Awesome program and will be soon looking to join the coaching ranks! Good job in the work that you do for the inner city youth and east coast football in general!
the energy of the coaches mixed with the kids drive and love for the game, leaves you with a sense of community and discipline a young man/women needs to excel in not only the game but life as well ps. yes we have girls at the harlem jets that play the game!!!
