Hargrave is a very special place. I graduated and have continued to be involved with the school. I have seen so many young men, given challenges and consistently reach their goals. It's a rare place that young men are able to not only build their future but also the friendships last the rest of your life. I graduated over 35 years ago and there has not been a week goes by that I don't correspond with someone I know/knew from Hargrave. The place prepares young men for future challenges, I will say it's not always easy, but you get what you put into it.
Hargrave Military Academy is truly a remarkable institution that provides a unique and enriching educational experience for its students. I began at Hargrave as a rat, but I left Hargrave as a man. The academy's commitment to academic excellence, character development, and leadership training sets it apart from other schools. With top-notch faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping students succeed, Hargrave offers a challenging and supportive learning environment that encourages growth and personal development. The academy's strong sense of community and camaraderie fosters lifelong friendships and bonds that last a lifetime. With a focus on discipline, honor, and integrity, Hargrave instills values that will serve its graduates well in all aspects of their lives. Overall, Hargrave Military Academy is a truly wonderful place that prepares young men for success in the classroom, on the field, and in life!
Spent 4 great years at HMA, 1960 to 64. Went from HMA to UVA. Enroll your son now, you'll be grateful later. And on the other side of Chatham is Chatham Hall School for Girls, your Son will be grateful.
As parents of a recent graduate of Hargrave, we have no regrets and only thankfulness. Our reason for choosing Hargrave was the structure that our son needed academically. We understood the many distractions that boys face and always wanted our son to stay focused and goal oriented. We can not imagine our lives without Hargrave. The leadership at Hargrave is superior. If we had a regret it would be that we are leaving a great leadership team that is truly committed and concerned about the boys...we believe great things are to come. There are renovations underway throughout barracks and other areas on campus...the boys will definitely enjoy these upgrades. Even though this is a boarding school and most parents are miles away, there are still opportunities for engagement and participation as a parent and ways for them to be involved through the parent council organization. The faculty is available to the boys outside of class as some come in early or stay late to meet with the cadets if extra help is needed. If we ever need leaders, today is the day. Hargrave lays this foundation and prepares them for life long success through it's four pillars: Academics, Athletics, Character Development and Spiritual Growth. Thank you Hargrave for being that guiding light to so many boys that finish great and continue on to do great things.
