This is the Greater Austin YMCA's afterschool care program, not a summer camp — it provides before/after-school childcare for children in kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 4–12) at more than 50 licensed school sites across Austin, Hays, Manor and area charter districts. Programs run Monday–Friday when school is in session, following district calendars, with physical play, arts, literacy and STEM activities. Scholarships are available.

Very disappointing experience with this YMCA camp. My son was suspended on his first day after his first disciplinary incident of the year. Rather than taking the time to fully investigate what happened and consider all children involved, the focus seemed to be placed solely on my child. I was especially concerned to learn that incidents from the previous year were being considered even though my son had already served the disciplinary consequences for those events. It does not seem fair to continue punishing a child for matters that were already resolved. As a parent, I found the program to be unorganized, lacking communication, and unwilling to work collaboratively to address behavioral concerns. Children, especially those with ADHD and other disabilities, deserve patience, understanding, and appropriate support—not immediate exclusion. I expected fairness, consistency, and a willingness to help children succeed. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

The YMCA teachers at Manor Rise Academy has helped Ayden to learn and grow so much! Ms Angel attentiveness is elite as well as the other staff members. Thank you!

My son, who has ADHD and Autism, has done wonderfully in the extended YMCA program and summer camps. They truly allow kids to be kids; they are well-equipped with plenty of staff and offer a lot of support for children with special needs. The camps and programs he was in prior didn’t understand him, made an issue about everything, and made him follow a strict schedule with out giving him any optional activities, while the YMCA has plenty of activities for your child to do. It’s a place where kids can be themselves, they are not put down, and they understand regular kid behavior as they don’t make a big deal about every little thing. I never worry about my child’s well-being and whether he is doing well. My child has flourished with these programs/camps. Most importantly he feels welcomed and safe. I highly recommend them, and my son is happy!
