The Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center, a Pittsfield nonprofit and Girls Inc. affiliate, runs two summer day camps. Camp Stevenson-Witawentin is a girls camp on Onota Lake (600 Churchill Street) for girls from completion of Kindergarten to age 15, running eight weeks from late June through late August, 8:30am-4:30pm at $220 per week, combining swimming, boating, nature, drama, art and sports with Girls Inc. programming and literacy and science activities to reduce summer learning loss. The co-ed ABC School Age Enrichment Program runs at the Brigham Center itself (165 East Street) for children from Kindergarten to age 14. Staff ratios are 1:10 (1:5 for campers age 6 and under), transportation is provided throughout Pittsfield, breakfast and lunch are free through the Pittsfield Public Schools Summer Food Program, financial assistance is available for income-eligible families, and the camps are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
