The Fort Shafter Youth Center is the U.S. Army Child & Youth Services (CYS) youth center at 240 Montgomery Dr., Bldg. 351, Honolulu, one of three youth centers run by USAG Hawaii Family and MWR. It serves eligible youth ages 11-18 in grades 6-12 who are registered with CYS; the garrison states that programs are free and that its DoD-certified programming is supervised by trained CYS staff. Program areas include leadership and citizenship, academic support and mentoring, fitness, health and nutrition, arts and creative activities, sports and recreation, STEM, workforce preparation and life skills, and youth sponsorship, with partnerships through Boys & Girls Clubs of America, 4-H Youth Development and USDA programs adding special events, camps and scholarships. The center has computer labs, art rooms, dance classes, pool and ping pong setups, and runs field trips, BBQs, dances and community service projects. It is open Monday to Friday 1-7 p.m., 12-6 p.m. during seasonal breaks, and closed on federal holidays.

★★★★★Steven B.Best facility for children and teens of Soldiers. Was there in the 90s as a military dependent enjoyed the many activities like ping pong, a pool table, and video games that this place provided that kept kids out of trouble. Hope they still offer weekend parties?!? Ah, the memories.
