The Forestburgh Playhouse Academy runs summer musical-theatre training programs for young performers, taught by New York City-based working theatre professionals and tied to the professional Playhouse stage in the Catskills. Offerings include a one-week Musical Theatre Intensive for ages 8-12, which ends in an original fractured fairy tale production for family and friends, and a two-week Theatre For Young Artists musical camp for ages 13-17. Students work on singing, dancing, and performing, with one-on-one mentoring from teaching artists. Daily hours are not stated.

Forestburgh Playhouse always puts on the best shows, as well as cabarets. I’ve been going there at least 10 years and they never disappoint! Parking is plentiful, and the gardens are delight!

I had such a great experience at the Forestburgh Playhouse last year that I bought a season pass this year. That's how much I enjoy this place. That said, I was disappointed by the sound during Next to Normal. The cast was fantastic. Every performer brought real emotion and strong vocals, and they clearly put their hearts into it. The problem was the sound system. The audio quality was rough, especially if you're sitting in the first couple of rows. There are small speakers right in front of those seats, and instead of helping, they made everything sound distorted and muddy. I’d avoid those seats if possible until it’s improved. There were also mic issues throughout the show. A few times the mics didn’t come on right away, so lines were missed. Plus, there was frequent feedback, which was really distracting. It’s frustrating because the performers were so good, and the sound system didn’t do them justice. I really hope the Playhouse addresses these problems. The actors and the audience deserve a better experience.

My son went to they camp for a week. He absolutely loved it! He and all the 39 children between 8-12 learned the performance in one week! They were amazing! The staff were so polite and so helpful it was a great experience for him and for myself!

A premier LOCAL playhouse offering big name productions with enthusiastic and amazingly talented Thespians, and no need to travel into NYC! When I say, "I laughed... I cried", We really did 😀 At every show 😄😣 We are Summer Season subscribers, and now also enjoy the after show Cabaret's. You must try Forestburgh!
