Powered by GoogleThis is a really nice and fun place for children to learn gymnastics. My girls really enjoy it from beginner to advanced. There is also cheerleading and after care offered. There is a lot of equipment and it is in good shape with a sitting room available to watch your children from stadium style seating. Snack and leotards are also available for sale.
They aren't teaching the kids gymnastics. My daughter has complained about how they usually sit in a small room after school and the teachers don't actually teach them how to do cartwheels, bends, flips or anything else. Even during additional classes on weekdays. I see this is a typical complaint and I wish we had seen this sooner. It has been a waste of time and money.
My two kids started gymnastics here with the mommy-and-me classes and stayed for about 4 years. After 4 years, neither could do a hand stand or a cartwheel. I just assumed we weren't a gymnastics-inclined family, but we put my daughter in another gymnastics family because it was closer to home and it turns out, she's great at this! At less than a year at the new place, she can do all kinds of handstands and cartwheels and is already working on front and back handsprings. I think First City is a fun option for playing on obstacle courses, but if you want your children to learn actual gymnastics skills, look elsewhere.
My 7 year old daughter has been a part of First City team for a few months now and she absolutely loves it, and I love it for her. She is progressing in her skills, likes her coaches and most importanly, made great friends very quickly and easily. She never ever complains about going. The whole environment seems supportive of the "whole child" development. So far, great experience all-around!
This is the first year my daughter attended the summer program. I wish we had done this years ago. She LOVES the activities, staff and especially all the exercise. We would recommend this camp to all kids. It's a way for your child to get exercise which just feels like fun. This has given our daughter more self esteem and pride in her appearance. Thank you First City!
