★John MartinUnprofessional. We participated in tryouts, got an offer, paid the fees and ordered gear only to have the entire team get cancelled 48 hours later. A very simple “team contingent upon player acceptances” would have tempered expectations. Thankfully we found a spot on DCFC which on the whole seems like a much more professional organization.

But, since the Rec Director (mac nutter) of Eastside FC decided to post a 5 star review I feel it necessary to post a valid review as a parent of a kid who has been in the rec program for 6 yrs. I strongly feel it is NOT well run and it has become clear that the rec league only exists to fund the travel league. Let's start by pricing. To get into the rec league, you are looking at $180 + 30 for jersey + around 50 for cleates and shinguards. So roughly a minimum of $260 for one season if you have an older child like me. The fields are not maintained a few of them I would argue are flat out dangerous. The goals typically have holes in them. You are lucky to have a full set of referees for your game. One of the adult referees that has been doing it for a while get's off on confrontation with parents and coaches which is not surprising as I've seen him berate referees at high school games. This year they have turned the indoor session into a kaos-filled joke with double the amount of kids splitting a field. It started off great with a skills camp and then evolved into a full-field game for the older kids. Now, I guess they realized that they could make more money by doubling the amount of players and charging $100 each. There are other clubs out there now. One of them is connected to the local pro team and seems to be half the cost and includes a jersey and coaches. Do your own research and ask around. But, I would say typically it's not a great sign when a director goes on Google reviews to post a 5 star review.
