The East Boston YMCA Day Camp runs at 54 Ashley Street in East Boston, close to the beaches, urban parks and downtown Boston. Weeks combine active play with learning: themed special events, fitness and nutrition instruction, and summer reading, math and science exploration aimed at keeping campers on track for the new school year, plus a weekly swim at the Mario Umana Elementary School pool. Enrollment is open by the week across ten one-week sessions from late June through late August, for ages 5-13, with camp hours of 7:30am to 5:30pm. The camp is American Camp Association accredited and licensed by the local board of health; financial assistance, EEC vouchers and contract slots are handled through the branch billing office.

Not the spot for a black man. Gym is cool but the atmosphere exudes hispanics and whites only. Very anti social setting. There is a yoga instructor named “Monica” she’s a great person. But aside from that there are a lot of non verbal cues that might suggest they are uncomfortable with dark skin people or are extremely self centered. It might just be a East Boston thing. The gym is cool just a bit small. If you have options I don’t think this should be your first.

Shame on YMCA. Deny kids a place to workout. This place is trash and should be shut down. YMCA back in the day let kids play, it was the YMCA Motto kids playing. Even when you turn into this trash place they have a banner of a child face, but kids cannot workout here. They dont care the about kids, they only care about money. Shame on YMCA!

I thought they don’t have a pool, but as it turned out they have it at different location, that is by Mario Umana Academy at 312 Border street.

Friendly and respectful staff (with some exceptions), but please do something with your check-in for the summer program. 20 min/parent/day is an hour a week that I can't afford to lose. The parents in that line lose a combined 35-60 hours a day just because there's only one person checking in at the gate and other ten members of staff stand around. The fact that it's taxpayer's sponsored doesn't help and raises the bar as well. Also, why would a professional working with little kids assume that a child "who goes to bathroom a lot" is "trying to avoid work"?! Sometimes it's better to leave preconceived notions at home.
