BioBuilder Educational Foundation is a Newton-based nonprofit teaching synthetic biology and biotechnology. Its Summer Research Program is open to rising 10th to 12th graders in the Boston metro area and runs as a two-week immersive program, 9am to 4pm, in which students develop lab skills and learn to design a synthetic biology system. The foundation also runs an eight-week High School Apprenticeship Challenge preparing students to apply for paid life-sciences internships, higher education or jobs, and has hosted middle-school groups for the Whitehead Institute's Expedition: Bio program at its Learning Lab in Allston.
