The Detroit Community Sailing Center is a nonprofit that teaches kids ages 10 to 17 to sail through its Challenge the Wind program at the historic Belle Isle Boat House. Students learn on a fleet of Optimist, Club 420, and Flying Scot boats, and a Youth Racing Adventure program introduces them to regatta racing. The center also provides free water-safety lessons to local youth through a partnership with Detroit Swims.
