Design Connect Create is a Grand Prairie STEM nonprofit that runs hands-on summer camps for girls in grades 6-12, with a focus on students from low-income and marginalized communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Camp tracks include AccelerateHER (engineering and physics design challenges such as catapults and roller coasters), CodeHER (HTML/CSS, JavaScript and Python website and game projects), CybHER (digital forensics and cybersecurity) and BiotechHER for grades 9-12 (DNA, restriction enzymes and gel electrophoresis). Camps are project-based and pair campers with female STEM professionals as mentors and guest speakers, and are run in partnership with area ISDs including Dallas, Fort Worth, Garland and Richardson.
