Crusader Basketball is a nonprofit founded in 1997 that uses basketball to teach life skills, leadership and conflict resolution to New York City youth, primarily in the Harlem and Bronx communities. Its summer offering is Crusader Summer School, which blends academics, leadership and basketball; year-round programs include a Friday Night Rec League for grades 3-8 and Saturday Skillz Development sessions on fundamentals and confidence. The organization serves boys and girls ages 7-18 and historically ran a two-week sleepaway basketball camp in Putnam Valley that drew about 160 students a year.
