Powered by GoogleExcellent art school for adults and children in New Haven, offering classes in painting, pottery, printmaking, book arts, metal working, drawing, photography and more, at all levels of experience and skill. The teachers are excellent; they are predominately working artists who eagerly and compassionately share their experience and skills with beginning to advanced students. I highly recommend CAW.
Creative Arts Workshop has become an integral part of my healing journey. As an artist, I use storytelling and visual language to transform pain into awareness, purpose, and a sense of agency. In 2024, I was given the opportunity to participate in a printmaking residency here, and it changed the trajectory of my practice. I continue to take classes because this is a space where people genuinely care. The instructors are not only highly skilled and respected in their fields, but they are also deeply invested in their students’ growth. There is a sense of community here that is supportive, consistent, and inspiring. What stands out most is how many people share the same experience: they come for one class and never really leave. I understand why. I came for a residency, and now I find myself returning again and again, not just to create, but to feel grounded, supported, and connected.
Creative Arts Workshop has helped my daughter level up both her technique and her confidence. The instructors are skilled, kind, and intentional—they teach real fundamentals (color theory, brushwork, composition) while keeping the creative spark alive. The studio is welcoming and well organized, which helped her feel brave enough to move from acrylics into oil painting. We’ve seen her grow as an artist and as a person. Highly recommend.
Great spot to learn pottery in new haven! I’m taking a wheel class with Megan and really enjoying it. The pricing was fair and you have access to open studio hours which I’ve been taking advantage of to practice. The staff every time I’ve interacted with them are super nice too! Highly recommend ‼️
Great experience here. The art was good and they seem to always have new art and events from local artists. Btw. They did have a chef on campus and he was 10 out of 5 stars. Look up his instagram @kingchefmoe. He was so good we hired him for a private event and he knocked it out the part.
