Common Sense Baseball runs a half-day summer baseball camp for players ages 7 to 12, led by its own professional trainers and grouped by age and skill. The day runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: warm-up, then developmental drill stations covering hitting, ground balls, fly balls, bunt defense, throwing, base running and cuts and relays, a snack break, then coach-pitch game play. Four week-long sessions run across late June, July and August, and families can book single weeks or pay a daily drop-in rate if they cannot make all five days. Note that while the business is based at a Westbury training facility, the camp itself is held outdoors at Abe Levitt Field in Hicksville; pre-registration online is required and every camper gets a T-shirt.

As both a long-time educator and a former athlete, I have a high bar for coaching, and Common Sense Baseball has exceeded it in every way. My son has been with the program for over a year, playing on travel teams and taking hitting lessons with Greg Thomson. My son typically resists anything requiring effort, yet he absolutely loves his time with Greg. Greg’s process is methodological, blending passion with a sense of mindfulness that manifests in quiet concentration. He provides feedback that leaves my son feeling motivated and encouraged—a feat that is not easy to achieve. The travel teams are equally impressive. Rob is a rare find in youth sports; he motivates players in a way that makes them feel respected and valued. He focuses on baseball IQ, sportsmanship, and a growth mindset, truly making these boys better people. While they use the 'baseball degenerate' label on their merchandise, the reality is the exact opposite. This organization embodies grit, hard work, and a genuine love for the game. They aren't degenerates; they are operating at a level far above the rest. I highly recommend Greg and the entire CSB team to any parent looking to build their child’s skill and confidence.

My son has trained with Greg and Rob for nearly 3 years. Coaches are encouraging and hold my son accountable. I never feel rushed and none of the sessions are "cookie cutter", they adjust to his needs and know when to push.

Best baseball training facility around. Top notch training staff with real knowledge, experience, and professionalism, but also the perfect mindset for each age and competition level. Greg and his guys are all about getting each kid to achieve his best and learn the right way. Both of my boys have leveled up tremendously since we started coming to Common Sense.

Greg is the best. Great with kids. Very knowable. Has been in the business for over ten years and has an excellent reputation. My son and all his friends used him growing up till college. He trains my friends younger kids to this day. Great guy and family man. I highly recommend CSB. Joe

Fantastic program. Fantastic trainers. Really care for the players. Always go above and beyond during the lessons, often stretching over the 30 minutes, never “clock watching”. Really are invested in the players’ success. Get to know the kids on a personal level. Great blend of encouragement and firmness. My experience has been top notch. Can’t recommend Rob and Greg enough.
