Colorado Rapids Castle Rock

So many complaints, my son plays 12u for Rapids Castle Rock. His coach Brian Greco was a horrible communicator and didn’t seem to teach the boys much… mostly just scrimmage a lot and were expected to suddenly start winning (they won one game all year). A concern was expressed via email regarding the poor communication and lack of fundamental plays/skills training… we never received a response to the complaint… until tryouts for the next season. We were excited to have our son play for Julian on Burgundy as Brian was not coaching that team any longer, but found out that our response to the complaint (for 2 different families that voiced concerns) was a demotion down to the white team after receiving a welcome letter to Burgundy… and then a retraction letter advising that there was a miscommunication, and that they were still under consideration. It broke my sons heart and then We had to wait 2 additional days to get a response. He was ready to quit soccer (a sport he truly loves and lives to play) because he didn’t feel like he was good enough. He was in no way shape or form one of the weakest players on the team (although I admit he wasn’t the best on the team either). It was absolutely unprofessional and really bad form to build a team roster on a really bad coach’s biased recommendation (facts that became apparent in the back and forth). I truly wish there was a better club option in the Castle Rock area… but we’ll have to continue settling for bad fields, really poor refs (if they show up at all), and an overall poorly run program. I feel like the technical director (Joe McNab) is pretty solid, but also got the feeling like we were being given a canned response to what I consider a pretty blatant spitting in our face. The saving grace and why we chose to continue with the White Team was based on a really great call received from the white coach Zach (yes, real communication) expressing his coaching style, gials, and direction. All falling in line with our really basic expectations of a paid club. I would not recommend Rapids Castle Rock if you have any other options… our schedule is just too busy to go elsewhere (north or south).

All three of my kids have played soccer for Colorado Storm Castle Rock, and my younger son has participated in the competitive program since U11. I have been so impressed with the training opportunities that he has been able to participate in through the club, even beyond the high quality competitive curriculum - including clinics during summer and winter break, recreational futsal, shooting camps, and early morning training (5:45am!) for elite players who are looking to start their day with a fantastic workout and more touches on the ball. I have watched my competitive player grow not only on the field, but also in leadership skills and in working with others as a team under the guidance of some truly wonderful coaches.

6 years ago we moved to Colorado and didn't know anything about the soccer clubs. We first played with another prominent local club, and the experience was not great. We switch to Colorado Storm Castle Rock and I am so glad we did. I have 4 kids (ages ranging from 5-14 years old) that are apart of the Castle Rock Storm club and it has been a wonderful experience. I appreciate the smaller club because I don't feel my kid just gets "lost in the masses", yet it's large enough to be able to compete in the state, and retain quality coaches throughout the club. My kids have a passion for the game of soccer and I have seen so much development of them as a player. I am so proud to be apart of the Colorado Storm Castle Rock club.

Storm Castle Rock offers top notch coaches to teach the game of soccer. My 2 boys both play on competitive teams for Storm and they have learned so much from their very talented coaches. Not only have they learned to love the game of soccer, but they have also learned life lessons to help them be successful people as they grow older.
