No pool at this location, gym equipment is somewhat lacking in quantity, though good numbers of freewheights. Equipment is kept in decent condition. Can't speak to the rest of the amenities, but seems equivalent to other YMCAs in midcoast Maine.

I have been going to this YMCA since I was about 10 years old (currently 25). I have a hard time reviewing this place because for people under the age of 15 or over the age of 40, it’s probably 4/5 gym. For people in their late teens, 20s, and 30s it’s sometimes an unpleasant experience. To start with the positive: The staff here is very friendly, and always has been. They also offer a lot of activities that you can sign up for, so if you’re bored and looking to work on your physique in a fun way, there’s plenty of options. Most areas are kepi clean throughout the day. Unfortunately there are quite a few downsides. Men’s locker room nudity is way worse than it used to be, though this isn’t really the Y’s fault, but it has become an issue. Also I find that the workout area has less machines than most other gyms and yet it feels so cramped. Next is my biggest peeve: the basketball court… It sucks. It’s always dirty, there’s only one hoop that’s actually 10ft (the rest are off by a few inches) and there are literal holes and cracks throughout the court. Not to mention, good luck finding an opportunity to use it because the elementary school PE classes often takes place on those courts (the elementary school has their own gym btw). Mon/wed/fri there is pick-up ball, but it’s hard to play a game sometimes when there’s little kids screaming and having tennis balls rolling out onto the court while you’re playing. Lastly, and this is a common complaint: it’s overpriced. This YMCA used to be about community and creating a healthy environment for people of all ages. It’s now completely overpriced, and a lot of the programs I talked about earlier are more geared towards old people. Sadly, this place is hardly a gym anymore. It’s a rehabilitation center/playground. If you’re in your 20s and 30s, I would recommend you commute to another gym.

This is a decent facility and the staff is great however I have a few peeves... The membership pricing structure: A family consisting of 2 parents and any number of offspring is 83 a month. An individual is 60?

I worked out at this YMCA back in 2021 when I lived here and just returned again. I enjoyed the facilities then and am looking forward to a great summer exercising here again. Mostly why I am writing a review is to highlight a particular employee for their great customer service. My husband and I both remembered Sam from back when we were members in 2021 as he left a great impression on both of us. Today we had the pleasure of being enrolled by him. Sam was kind, helpful, informative, and enjoyable to interact with as he set up our membership. He made a positive impact on our day and we look forward to seeing his face again when we return for our workouts. The YMCA is lucky to have him as an employee.

The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta is the best! The facility is new, clean, and has everything you could want! From a full workout area to a large basketball court, indoor track, and tennis courts, the CLC Y has it all. Childcare, fitness classes, and a large playground are also available at CLC. I have been a member for close to a year and a half and absolutely love it.
